As we approach the middle of September and the crispness of fall begins to hint at the horizon, I find myself reflecting on the summer we've had. It's been a season filled with laughter, adventure, and cherished moments...both on the road and at home. From spontaneous outings to cozy nights in, we've checked off many items from our 2025 summer bucket list. With a busy season ahead, I'm grateful for the memories we've created and excited for what's to come. Here's a look at how our summer unfolded and what we've crossed off (and still hope to!) from our list.
Here’s what’s we accomplished from our 2025 Summer Bucket List...I'll include links to the blog posts or commentary on why we didn't accomplish that item.
🌴 Decorate for the 4th of July - I decorated my porch, tiered tray on the kitchen island, and we decorated the lakehouse for our 4th of July family weekend.
🌴 Try some of the new brunch places in town - we have so many new ones in Waxahachie, but I was able to try Morning Table and it was amazing!
🌴 Take a wildflower scenic drive - kind of. We didn't take a designated drive, but we saw so many wildflowers and wildflower fields this summer.
🌴 Watch Fireworks on the 4th of July - YES! We got to watch fireworks over the lake and it was magnificent.
🌴 Go swimming - lots of pool time at the beach house this summer!
🌴 Make homemade ice cream - this one makes me laugh! I tried to make homemade ice cream when we went to the lakehouse, but I forgot the paddle that goes inside the ice cream maker. Needless to say, it didn't turn out. But I redeemed myself at the back to school bash and Nana and PawPaw's house!
🌴 Eat copious amounts of watermelon - we did...every chance we got!
🌴 Go to the beach - we did and it was a beautiful time.
🌴 Lake days with family - we haven't spent much time at my parent's lakehouse this summer but we did have some nice lake days.
🌴 Visit Fredericksburg - always a favorite of ours!
🌴 Read a book - I've read quite a few!
🌴 Cross some things off our Texas Bucketlist - we went to Cadillac Ranch and Palo Duro Canyon.
🌴 Chase some sunsets - we have definitely done this. And I wrote a blog post on what sunsets mean to me.
🌴 Go to Colorado!!!!!!
Things we didn't get to...
🌴 Visit Ham Farm - not yet! Maybe next year as they close mid-August
🌴 Visit Ham Farm - not yet! Maybe next year as they close mid-August
🌴 Road trip weekends - while we got to travel, we didn't have our road-trip weekends that I was hoping for. Maybe we'll table this for the fall.
🌴 Make s'mores - this would also be a good fall-time activity. Fall camping is my favorite. .
🌴 Find a sunflower field - I've seen many sunflowers, but not the fields of the giant ones that we normally see around here.
🌴 Float the River - we didn't get to this before the flood happened in Texas. After that devastating event, this fell far down on my list of things I wanted to do. All of my prayers still go up for those families that were impacted.
🌴 Go to a Ranger game - we are going this weekend!
🌴 Try a new recipe - maybe in the fall. That's when I love to bake!
🌴 Go to the Farmer's Market - there's still time
🌴 Go to a festival - maybe in the fall
🌴 Visit a new Texas town we've never visited - we will definitely do this in the fall
Summer, you were pretty good to us but I am ready for fall. Bring it on!!
