{Waxahachie Wednesday // A Guide to Waxahachie’s Fall Festivals}

Fall has officially arrived in Waxahachie, and let me tell you...our little town knows how to celebrate the season! From downtown festivals to pumpkin patches and community fairs, Waxahachie is full of small-town charm this time of year. The courthouse square comes alive with twinkle lights and pumpkins, the air carries that crisp hint of autumn (on the good days, anyway), and there’s no shortage of family fun.

For this week’s Waxahachie Wednesday, I thought it would be fun to highlight some of the best fall festivals and events right here in Waxahachie. Whether you’re a local looking for weekend plans or planning a little day trip to our corner of Texas, here’s your guide to soaking in the season.

🎃 Scare on the Square

Downtown Waxahachie turns into a Halloween wonderland each October for Scare on the Square. Families fill the historic square for trick-or-treating at local shops, games, costume contests, food vendors, and live entertainment. It’s family-friendly and the perfect way to get into the spooky spirit without anything too scary. Kids love it, but honestly, the adults do too...the courthouse backdrop makes it magical!

🎃 Local Pumpkin Patches

Nothing says fall quite like a trip to the pumpkin patch, and Waxahachie has some of the best around.

  • Country Critters Farm – A Waxahachie tradition! They host a Fall Festival with hayrides, bounce houses, farm animals, a corn maze, and of course, pumpkins galore.

  • Shadow Creek Pumpkin Farm – Located just outside of town, this spot has a charming pumpkin patch plus games, photo ops, and food trucks. It’s one of those picture-perfect places to spend a fall afternoon.

Both are great for families, photo ops, or just stocking up on pumpkins for your porch.

🎃 Community Fairs & Local Fun

Waxahachie is a town that loves community, and fall is full of smaller events that bring people together:

  • Ellis County Fair & Rodeo (nearby) – While technically just up the road, it’s worth mentioning. Think rodeos, livestock shows, carnival rides, and all the fair food you could ever want.

  • Downtown Fall Markets – Our square often hosts pop-up markets with local artisans, boutiques, and food trucks. These are the perfect places to shop small and stock up on cozy fall décor or handmade goods.

  • Church & School Fall Festivals – Almost every local church or school hosts its own version of a fall fest, complete with trunk-or-treating, bounce houses, and chili cook-offs. It’s small-town Waxahachie at its finest.

🎃 Upcoming events

Fall in Waxahachie is full of charm, family traditions, and community spirit. Whether you’re picking pumpkins, cheering on the costume contest downtown, or grabbing a funnel cake at the fair, there’s something about this season that makes our little town shine.

So grab your boots, bring your family, and come experience Waxahachie’s fall festivals. Trust me... it’s the kind of small-town fun that makes fall feel unforgettable. 🍂✨
