{From the Front Porch // I Almost Missed This}

 Written on June 29th, 2025

Tonight, I almost talked myself out of going for a walk. You know how it goes...long day, tired body, every excuse stacked up. But something nudged me, so I laced up my white Adidas (walking on clouds, truly...Adidas are elite for walking and you cannot change my mind) and stepped outside.

I started down our street, still unsure if I’d go far. But as I rounded the corner, I looked up and saw this...the sky split between storm and serenity, light pouring over the edges of thick clouds like heaven itself was spilling through. I froze in awe. It was too beautiful to just pass by.

In that still moment, I heard God whisper:

“This is for you, My daughter. I know you didn’t want to, but you did. Moving your body is a gift, and you’re doing it. Here’s this beauty to look at.”

It instantly shifted everythin...my mood, my energy, my heart. I felt lighter. I kept walking… further than I’d planned.

The rest of the walk was covered in grace:

Dragonflies and butterflies danced around me

Crape myrtles stood proudly in full bloom

Birds sang like they were cheering me on

The wildflowers were wildin'

And I couldn’t help but think, I almost missed this.

So this is your little reminder, friend:

Sometimes the hardest step is the first one. But there’s beauty waiting just around the corner...sometimes literally.

Don’t miss it.

From my front porch to yours... may you always feel the nearness of God, the beauty in the ordinary, and joy in the little things.
