Happy Monday! What a wonderful weekend...that went by way too fast. Even with the extra day off on Friday, it still felt like it flew by. But we packed in so much family time, and that is always the best. Here’s a little look at what we were up to...
Friday //
Nate and I were up bright and early to head to my doctor’s office for a surgery consultation. Thankfully it was short and sweet. I got the official go-ahead, and now it’s just a matter of clearing it with a couple of my other doctors and waiting until I feel complete peace about it before scheduling.
After my appointment, Mason called and asked if we could come pick him up, so of course we did. From there, we made a little outing of it and headed to the Grand Prairie outlets. He needed new shoes, but we struck out there...so we made our way to the Parks Mall. After checking a few stores, we finally found the pair he wanted in his size. Victory!
Since we were already out, we went to lunch at Portillo’s and then made a stop at one of my favorite thrift stores in Mansfield. I found a few treasures that I’ll share in my Thrifted Thursday post. Then it was back home to grab Mason’s gear for high school hockey practice...and that’s where we spent the rest of our Friday evening.
Saturday //
Saturday morning started off bright and early again with a trip to the Waxahachie Farmer’s Market. I didn’t go with a list, I just wanted to pop in because it had been too long since our last visit. We didn’t buy much since we weren’t going straight home, but Mason did get a small jug of raw milk (which he inhaled in about 30 seconds flat) and some cinnamon pecans from a local orchard.
Next stop...Coffee and Rides at a detail shop in Arlington. This was Mason’s first official car meet with his new car! It was so much fun seeing all the neat cars, and we even grabbed some detailing products for Mason to use. From there, we stopped at Play It Again Sports (owned by Mason’s coach and another hockey dad). This place is such a blessing...it’s a new and used sports store right near our rink, and considering all the other hockey shops are an hour north, this is huge for us.
By then we were starving, so we went to our favorite local lunch spot, Oma’s. It never disappoints. With full bellies, we wandered around the Waxahachie town square. They’re already starting to decorate for fall, and it looks absolutely adorable. The shop owners were so kind and welcoming...it made our little growing town feel small again in the sweetest way. My heart is just so thankful to live here. Also, we have one of the prettiest courthouses/squares in Texas!!
Later that afternoon we tackled some chores and then had a slow evening. The boys did some yard work and detailed Mason’s car, while I relaxed on the porch and took it all in. We ended the night with breakfast for supper (always a favorite) and a cozy, restful evening at home.
Sunday //
Sunday morning started the best way...with church. My sister and brother-in-law joined us, which was such a blessing. Worship was incredible, as always, and our pastor’s son gave a powerful sermon that really hit home.
After church, we got Mason ready for his hockey game. We left early and realized we had almost an hour to spare, so we grabbed a quick bite before heading to the rink. His game was intense! As I mentioned before, Mason’s team got moved up to the gold bracket...the highest division for high school hockey. Sunday’s opponent was Prosper, who just so happened to be last year’s gold state champions. They’re known for blowing teams out of the water...but our Tigers absolutely held their own.
Here’s the quick recap:
-
Down 3–0 after the first period
-
Came back to make it 4–2 by the end of the second
-
Tied it 5–5 in the third
-
Prosper scored late to make it 6–5, but our Tigers tied it with four seconds left on the clock!
-
After a scoreless overtime, it went to a shootout where we lost 7–6 (and yes...one of our goals was called off by the ref).
Even though it ended in a shootout loss, we couldn’t have been prouder. The grit, heart, and determination this team showed was amazing. They played so well, and we all left that rink bursting with pride.
After the game, we celebrated with supper at Mason’s favorite spot...Chili’s...before heading home. We spent the rest of the evening with Lucy and Ethel while watching the sunset. They're the sweetest girls and I am obsessed with them!
It was such a good weekend, and I’m sad it’s already over. But my heart is full after so much family time, good food, and fun memories. How was your weekend?
