{Weekend Wrap-Up // Back to School Bash & Sweet Time Together}

We had such a chill, heart-filling weekend… the kind with plenty of time at home, sprinkled with family, friends, and a few little adventures. It was lovely from start to finish.

Friday
I worked during the day, and once I wrapped up, we made a thrift store run. Mason actually went with us this time (a rare treat!) and found several things he liked, which made it even more fun. When we got home, I made us both an iced coffee...and oh my goodness, it hit the spot. I’m not a daily coffee drinker, but every once in a while I get a craving for a cold, sweet cup. The other day at Tom Thumb, I found my favorite pumpkin spice cold foam (yes, in August… and I’m not mad about it) so that took it over the top. That evening, Nate went to pick up Mo’ Bettahs for dinner, and I spent the rest of the night reading my Bible. A quiet Friday night at home was just what I needed.

Saturday
I slept in until 9 a.m., and it was glorious. While I slowly woke up, Nate and Mason grabbed breakfast tacos from Rosa’s. I wasn’t hungry yet, so I skipped breakfast and headed outside to water the flowers and plants. Once everyone was fed, we spent a little time outdoors...Nate and Mason played a game of driveway hockey while I sat back and enjoyed watching them. Later, Mason and I made a Walmart run to pick up a few things for that evening. Our little town was bustling (when everything runs along one main road, it gets congested fast), but we weren’t in a hurry and just enjoyed the outing. We picked up the things we needed, strolled through the aisles, and just spent some one-on-one time together.

When we got home, Nate and Mason decided to go through Nate's closet to see what shirts he could pass down to Mason. They found this little gem...I can't for the life of me figure out why Nate even had this or where it came from. But it cracks me up! It's now in the donation pile.

That evening was the sweetest—our back-to-school bash at Nate’s parents’ house! Our youngest nephew starts Kindergarten this week, and Nate’s mom has always thrown a special party when each of the boys reached that milestone. She went all out: a build-your-own nachos bar, cotton candy machine, homemade ice cream, and all sorts of treats. Outside, the boys ran wild with the sprinkler, water balloons, and makeshift “pools” made from water troughs and big storage tubs. It was such a fun night celebrating family.

When we got home, I curled up with my Bible again and even made a few new bookmarks and tassels.

Sunday
We headed to the early service at church, and as always, the worship was incredible. We had a guest pastor this week, and the theme was family...specifically, leaving a Legacy of Faith for the next generation. Since it was also “Back to School” day at church, the kids promoted to their new classes, and we celebrated with popcorn and popsicles, bounce houses, a DJ, food trucks, and even a teacher’s lounge for our educators. I’ll share more about the message in Sunday’s From the Front Porch post, but for now, I’ll just say it was such a beautiful day.

After church, we came home for a quiet afternoon...some chores, simple sandwiches for lunch, and an attempted nap (I think I managed a solid 15 minutes!). That evening, we went to the rink for a going away party for one of our hockey coaches, who’s leaving soon to begin his PhD in Scotland. The turnout was amazing! We sold raffle tickets for the kids to pie him in the face (all proceeds going toward his travel fund), and it was every bit as hilarious as it sounds. Afterward, we grabbed dinner at Portillo’s...always delicious...and then headed home to get ready for the week ahead.

We even snapped a few pictures together before the weekend officially came to a close. And just like that, another weekend is in the books.

How was your weekend?

Linking up with Holly and Sarah for Hello Monday.
