What a weekend! It was one of those that felt both restful and productive all at once...my favorite kind. We had a little bit of everything...family time, thrifting, church, football, and even a big milestone for Mason. Here’s a peek into our weekend…
Friday
I was off work...hallelujah! I took full advantage by staying in bed and reading for a bit while Nate caught up on some much-needed rest. Poor guy wakes up at 3:55 every single morning for work, so he deserved it. Once we got moving, we picked up Nate’s mom for a day of shopping! The weather was gorgeous and we had such a sweet time with her. We hit TJ Maxx and then three thrift stores. It was such a successful thrifting day...so many treasures and great finds! I’ll share more details (and what we scored!) in my upcoming Thrifted Thursday post. That evening, Nate was craving a burger so we grabbed some supper at Freddy's. Then, we had a cozy night at home.
Saturday
We started the day with Mason excitedly telling us about a car he found online. I mentioned before that he’s been on the hunt for a very specific car...basically a unicorn because they’re so rare. When one pops up, we know we have to act fast. Nate called as soon as the dealership opened, and while they thought they had a deposit on it, they also mentioned a similar car not yet listed. We didn’t waste any time waiting on a call back...we got ready and hit the road! It was stormy and cooler outside so I opted to cozy up in the backseat with a blanket and my book! I let Mason ride up front...this day was all about him!
When we got there, the car was in the bay, and to our surprise, the supposed “deposit” never actually came through. Fair game! Nate gave it a thorough once-over, ran diagnostics, and even had my brother...who is super car savvy...check it out and test drive it. Everything looked great, and before we knew it, Mason was the proud new owner of his dream car: a 2016 Scion FR-6. This car is very unique in that three makes made the same car; the Subaru BRZ, the Toyota 86, and the Scion FR-S. They all have the same motor. And if you look under the hood, it lists all three. So strange, but cool at the same time. While we were there, another family brought their teen daughter in to look at this car as well. They were devastated that we beat them to it. I felt so bad because I knew she must have been disappointed. If she's been looking like we have, she knows how rare it is to find this car as well. I hope she's able to get the one they're getting in later this week.
Anyhow, to say Mason is over the moon would be an understatement. It’s getting a few minor things done before we can bring it home, but it already feels surreal that he found the car he’s been searching for. That evening we grabbed Chicken Express and settled in for college football at home.

Sunday
We went to the early service at church, which we love for so many reasons...easy parking, it gets us up and moving, and we still have the whole day ahead of us. The worship was so powerful and moving, and Pastor Brown shared such a good message on grown-up faith. We also got to take communion together, which made the morning even more special.
After church, we stopped by Nate’s parents’ house so Mason could excitedly share all about his new car. We had lunch afterward and tackled a few things around the house. Later in the afternoon, we took Mason to Summit so he could scope out all the car parts and accessories he’s been dreaming about. We grabbed Bahama Bucks on the way home. Then I cut a new bouquet of flowers for the week.
Then, we were planning to clean out right side the garage (to make room for Mason's car), but Nate’s mom texted that they were outside enjoying the weather with hummingbirds buzzing around. Nate’s youngest brother and his wife were there too, so of course we walked over to join. We watched college football outside, visited and yapped about everything and anything. Then, we had supper and wrapped up the night full and happy.
Monday
Monday turned into our MPD (Most Productive Day). I hit the ground running with a whole list of projects I wanted to tackle, and it felt so good to get so many things crossed off. Laundry, sweeping, surfaces cleaned, decor rearranged, clothes hung up, and yes—matching socks (why is that task always never-ending?). On top of that, I worked on some prayer cards for the waiting room at the local chemo office. Each card has handwritten words of hope and encouragement, a prayer card, and a pocket cross. Before I take them, I’ll pray over them. It was such a meaningful project and I can’t wait to deliver them.
By the evening, we were ready for some downtime. I made meatball subs for Nate and me, and chicken tenders for Mason. It started pouring and then I got a text from Nate's mom that there was a rainbow outside. We went to see it! It was so vibrant and just kept getting more vibrant as the seconds passed by. And then a double rainbow appeared! It was so beautiful. Then we curled up on the couch and called it a night.
All in all, it was a beautiful weekend with the perfect balance of rest and productivity. And any weekend where we get to see one of Mason’s wishes come true is a good one in my book. God is so good, and we are so thankful for all He continues to do in our lives.
