28 Weeks :)

Hello 3rd Trimester!!!!

By this week, baby Mason should weigh about two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels. He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

This has been a very exhausting week for me! I haven't felt all that great. It's hard to get comfortable, I have shortness of breathe, lots of heartburn, and can't sleep at all. Also, I've had a bit of pain in my upper stomach.

How far along? 28 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +24lbs

Stretch marks: Nope (fingers crossed)

Maternity Clothes? A Must!

Sleep: Not so much! Takes me forever to fall asleep these days. We are in bed most nights by 8:30-9:30 and it's well after 11 before I doze off. Then I am awake every hour looking at the clock, readjusting and trying to get comfortable.

Movement: Yep, still mostly after meals and at night. And then all throughout the night! I think sweet baby Mason has his days/nights mixed up! Hope we get this straightened out before May :)

Food Cravings: Mexican food, subway

Food Aversions: popcorn

Symptoms: Sleepy, heartburn , shortness of breath, etc and so forth!!

Belly button in or out? Almost out! I've been saying this for weeks, I know. But it's almost surfaced!!

What am I looking forward to? Sonogram on Monday!!!!!

Weekly Joy: Getting to hear Mason's heartbeat on Wednesday!!!

Picture time! Lots and lots of them :)

Shelf in Mason's room - all temporary items on the shelf. The shelf was built by Mason's Great Grandfather, RV Furrh. Mason's Nana LeeAnn let us borrow it for his room. Matches his furniture and will be a great addition to the room! I am sure it will be full after the next couple of weekends. :)

1st shelf contains his scrapbook, I made/put on the letters - a moo cow that is a book end, I just like it because it matches Mason's room, and then a Red Tractor we bought at Tractor Supply (of course).

2nd shelf - Letters I made for his room. These will eventually hang on the wall. Each letter is a 5x7 frame

3rd shelf - a bank my mom found at an antique store that says "Mason", baskets that have odds and ends in them, and then the few books Mason has already collected.

4th shelf - train letters that spell out "Mason" that I have to paint, his lil cowboy hat and rope we bought him at Canton a couple months ago

5th shelf - all of Mason's shoes he's collected. Most were given to him. But Mommy and Daddy did buy the Puma tennis shoes and the flip flops!! Couldn't resist, too cute.

Dr. Appt - 2-24-2010

Wednesday was my normal Dr. Checkup. First of all I get there and there is not a single parking place open anywhere near the entrance to the hospital (side where my dr office is). I drove around for 11 minutes until one finally came open! It was very frustrating. And the parking place I finally found was clear across the backside of the parking lot. I had to basically run into my appt. But wouldn't you know that once I got there they were behind too?!?! My doctor is usually never running behind! Must have been one of those days. Anyhow, I go to the lab - weigh in. Another 5lbs gained. Ugh. Then I go to the restroom for my urine test and for the life of me I can't pee! Took forever! I finally grabbed the cold metal assistance bar (I was in the handicap bathroom, only one open) and that did the trick! I was able to go. Not much, but enough! Then it was off to the waiting room. My appt was at 9:15 and I didn't go back until almost 9:30. So that 15+ minutes I was in the waiting room I had this little chinese girl stare at me the entire time. I don't even think she blinked. It was like she was playing the staring game and nothing could break her concentration! I got my phone out and started playing on it so that I could try to ignore freaky lil' chinese girl!!! When the nurse finally called my name I basically ran out of the waiting room!!! So, my nurse goes over all the normal questions - any bleeding? Any water leaking? Any contractions? Then takes my blood pressure - which was good, YAY! Then it was time to hear Mason's heartbeat. Okay - keep in mind that in all the appts I've had she finds his heartbeat in like 30 seconds or less. This time it took over 3 minutes. I tried not to panic. But those 3 minutes feel like 30 when you're waiting to hear your child's heartbeat! Finally she found it on my lower left side. She said "He's active today and moving around a lot" - I said yep, that's Mason!! His heartbeat was good and strong - 150bpm. Then it was time for my Dr. He came in and talked to me for a bit to see how I was doing and then it was time to measure my belly. I told him about some discomfort I had been having in a certain area. He said more than likely it was that all of my insides were being crammed upwards to make room for Mason. He said, because your uterus is "here" and he was like oh, wait - yours is higher than I expected. And then he measured my belly and he said, "You're measuring higher/bigger than I expected". And then he checked to see when my last sonogram was (January 20th). He scheduled me another one for Monday. He said not to worry, he just wants to check and make sure everything is okay and that my fluids are good. Okay, telling a pregnant lady not to worry is like telling a fish not to swim! HELLO! That doesn't happen! So, needless to say we have a sonogram Monday morning at 8:00am and another Dr appt the 10th of March. Don't get me wrong, I will take any chance I get to see my sweet baby boy...I just pray that everything is well. That we have a healthy growing and happy baby boy!!!

I am kind of glad my doctor made this diagnosis (not sure that's the right word) though. For the last week or so I have been really uncomfortable. I have a hard time breathing and a hard time sleeping. Seems like no matter the position I am in, it's uncomfortable. I was a little worried because I still have a little under 3 months to go!!! My belly just seems so big already!!!

And I think Mr. Mason used my belly/insides as a punching bag last night. I woke up today with a sore stomach. Almost like the day after a really intense Ab muscle workout. Okay, maybe more like the 2nd day afterwards! It took me a while to fall asleep last night because Mason gets so active at bed time. And last night the kicks were mighty strong! Future soccer player maybe? :)

Here are some "fun" pics of mommy and daddy! Taken with camera phone :)

These were taken at 27w4d - on Tuesday

Sweet baby Mason - you woke Mommy up at 3:55am this morning kicking and turning flips! I joked on Facebook and said that you just know Winter Olympics are on and it's inspired you to practice your gymnastic skills in my belly! I think you are going for the GOLD, seriously!! And you were using my bladder for a trampoliene, my lungs for a vault, and then of course there was the floor exercise!!!! haha! Although I am craving sleep right now, I would much rather you wake me up that early than to not feel you at all. I love all the movements and to know that you are up and at it. :) I love you sweet boy!

This weekend I made you some letters to hang on your wall. Each one is a 5x7 frame with a letter to spell your name. The background is cow print to match your bedding. I am in love with them. :)

Can't wait to get these on your wall!

Well, pregnancy is starting to get very interesting. Mommy can barely shave her legs, tie her shoes or paint her toes anymore. I tried all of the above yesterday and thought I was going to pass out! I couldn't breathe. I had to paint one toe and then take a breather. lol! I told Daddy last night that I just can't imagine getting any bigger than I am right now. He laughed and said, "You still have 3 months to go". It's amusing to him, I am sure!! But baby, you just keep growing all you need to!! Mommy will be fine!!!

Sleep: What’s that?!?! Mason likes to kick/turn when it’s bed time and then again between 3-5 am!! But that’s okay, I’d rather him wake me up then to not feel him at all!

Movement: See above! Moving all the time and I love it. Starting to see the movement from the outside of my belly!!!

Food Cravings: Mexican food, lettuce

Food Aversions: popcorn

Symptoms: Sleepy, heartburn

Belly button in or out? Almost out!

What am I looking forward to? Dr appt on Wednesday, getting to hear Mason’s heartbeat.

Weekly Joy: The kicks and movements! Daddy got to feel Mason flip over or do some sort of trick the other night!

Here's a picture. Not the best quality, as it's from my camera phone...but I will get better ones later!

Valentine's Day - 2

Last night we had dinner with your Grandma and Grandpa Hall. We didn't see them on Valentine's Day, so they gave us our gifts last night. Your uncle Ty wrote you and awesome poem. Mommy and Daddy are going to frame it for your bedroom and make a copy for your scrapbook!! You're gonna love your uncle Ty so much!!!

Had another great checkup at the doctor yesterday! Dr Greve says he's really pleased and that mommy and baby are doing wonderful!! Here's the details:

Blood Pressure - 110/60
Belly Measures - 28cm
Weight Gain - 8lbs since last checkup, 20lbs total since prepregnancy
Mason's heartrate - 142bpm

I also did my glucose testing. The drink wasn't that bad tasting at all. Just like a really sweet sunkist. But about 5 minutes later my stomach started hurting. And it woke Mason up! He started kicking me like crazy :) And then he was active all day long. Should have results in 24/48 hours.

Next appt - Feb 24, at 9:15am

25 Weeks :)

Your Pregnancy: Week 25

Baby's now the size of an eggplant! That oh-so-handy sense of equilibrium is kicking in, and baby's learning to distinguish right side up from upside down.

Baby @ 25 Weeks:

This is a big week for your baby! Around pregnancy week 25, the structures of his spine are starting to form, including 33 vertebrae (rings of bone), 150 joints, and 1,000 ligaments. These structures will eventually support your baby’s body weight. Your baby’s capillaries are also forming this week. Capillaries are the tiny blood vessels that move blood from the heart to tissues in the body. By the end of week 25, air sacs and blood vessels in your baby’s lungs will develop, getting him ready for his first breath. So far in your pregnancy, your little one’s nostrils have been plugged up, but they are now beginning to open up.

With the advances in technology, if your baby were to be born this week, he has up to an 82 percent chance of survival with aggressive ICU treatment.

My Pregnancy this far:

How far along? 25 weeks 3 days (today)

Maternity Clothes? Oh yeah!

Sleep: Same, I fall asleep quickly, but wake up several times throughout the night/morning.

Movement: Mason is definitely an active baby! This weekend his kicks were so strong and frequent. Saturday morning he would kick my left side, I'd put my hand there and then he'd start kicking on the right side, so I'd quickly move my hand there and then he'd start kicking in the middle. I couldn't keep up with him!!

Food Cravings: Subway and Kool-Aid :) lol
Food Aversions: Not really

Symptoms: You name it! :) Started getting really sleepy again. Not like 1st trimester sleepy, but I have less energy than I did in weeks 15-23ish. I wish that would come back!!!

Belly button in or out? Getting closer to an outie. It's funny! And it feels weird.

What am I looking forward to? Getting to hear Mason's heartbeat on Wednesday!! And getting the Glucose testing over with!! I've heard it's awful, so I am determined to just get it done.

Weekly Joy: Kicks, definitely the kicks. And that Daddy gets to feel them too! <-- ditto from last week. This morning Daddy got to feel Mason kick at 5 am before leaving for work! Made our day!!! We love you sweet boy.

Now, for pictures!!!!

Mommy at 25 weeks pregnant.

Can barely see my toes anymore!!!

And since Valentine's Day is coming up:

Mason's new shoes! Pumas and they are so freakin' cute!

New sleepers:

Onesies Galore (mostly given to us, some bought)

New Overalls (from my favorite boutique - Pete and Repete)

24 Weeks

During pregnancy week 24, your baby is now more than one pound (1.3 pounds) and is about 11.8 inches long! As you track your pregnancy week by week, from this point out, your baby will resemble a tiny albeit complete little human being! Your baby continues to grow more proportional each and every day. During pregnancy week 24 his organ systems continue to mature as do the central nervous system, digestive system and even reproductive and circulatory systems. Your baby's lungs are also starting to form little branches and will eventually start producing a substance called surfactant, which prevents her lungs from sticking together and helps the baby to breathe after birth. The amniotic fluid surrounding your baby begins to increase in volume after about pregnancy 24 weeks. This continues until delivery when your uterus will hold up to 2 pints of amniotic fluid.

How far along? 24 weeks 5 days
Maternity Clothes? Yes, definitely!

Sleep: I fall asleep quickly, but wake up several times throughout the night/morning.

Movement: Lots and lots of movement. Mason moves around like crazy and the kicks are getting stronger. I love that feeling of him getting stronger. When I feel him moving or kicking I sit back and just take it all in!

Food Cravings: Not really craving specifics. Still like Mexican food, alot. Even though sometimes it doesn't like me (indigestion). And of course I am always craving Famous Daves...but that's a crave I can't satisfy all the time since it's in Abilene. We did get to have it this past weekend though and it was GREAT!!!

Food Aversions: Popcorn, again. I felt nauseous when I smelled it during the first trimester, then when I hit the 2nd trimester it didn't bother me. Now that I near the end of the the 2nd trimester that aversion has come back. A co-worker makes it everyday and I get sooooo nauseous!

Symptoms: Swollen feet/ankles, indigestion, discoloration on my face

Belly button in or out? In but only barely. It's starting to surface! Won't be long, I am sure.

What am I looking forward to? Dr appt the 10th, get to hear the heartbeat. But not looking forward to the Glucose testing! I've heard that's awful. And of course I always look forward to the next time I feel him kicking!!

Weekly Joy: Kicks, definitely the kicks. And that Daddy gets to feel them too!

xoxoxoxo

My little kicker...

Sweet baby Mason - you woke Mommy up around 5:45am this morning kicking away. You are the best alarm clock I could ever ask for!!!
