{Weekend Wrap-up}

Happy Monday, friends! I’m super late in getting this post up. Usually, I’m on top of my weekend wrapups early on Monday morning, but that just didn’t happen today. Instead, Nate texted me first thing and told me to go outside... and I’m so glad I listened. The sky was absolutely stunning. The colors kept shifting every few seconds, with early morning showers moving through and then the most beautiful sunrise breaking through the clouds. I ended up staying outside for a solid 30 minutes, just soaking it in and sitting in silence. It was the sweetest reminder to pause and appreciate God’s handiwork. Anyhow, better late than never... let’s jump into the weekend recap!

Our weekend was really good! It was full of sports, family, and Jesus... truly the best kind of weekend.

Friday

I worked while Nate picked up some overtime. He’s usually off on Fridays, but with a renovation project coming up at his job, he needed to take an extra day to prep his space. That evening, Mason had practice with his high school JV team. Afterward, the boys stuck around for a team meeting and a little bonding by watching the TCU vs. SMU hockey game together.

Nate and I watched the game too, and wow... it was intense. Lots of fights broke out, players were ejected, and SMU ended up taking the win with a wild 9–7 score. The boys had a blast watching, and I loved that they could see hockey played at the next level. After the game wrapped up, we gave a couple of Mason’s friends a ride home, and by the time we finally got home ourselves, it was after 11:30. We called it a night and crashed.

Saturday

Saturday morning, Nate and I headed out bright and early to watch our nephews play baseball. It was such a fun change of pace from all the time we spend at the rink. Both boys played so well, and their teams won their games! We loved getting to cheer them on.

After baseball, we headed home for a quick turnaround before heading to the Texas Rangers game. Our best friends from Colorado were in town and invited us, and we were so excited for the chance to spend the evening with them. We got to the stadium a little early, snagged some bobbleheads before they ran out, and then set out to find our friends.

The game itself was great... lots of excitement, even though our Rangers didn’t pull out a win. It was close at the end, which kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Honestly, though, the highlight was catching up with our friends and just enjoying the night together. After the game, we grabbed a late-night bite at one of our favorite hole-in-the-wall spots on that side of town, which is always a win. Then it was a 45-ish minute drive home, and we were more than ready to call it a night.

Sunday

Sunday was the sweetest way to round out the weekend. We started the day at church, which was so good for my soul. On our way in, Nate and I ran into one of the worship leaders in the parking lot and had a really nice conversation. Worship was beautiful, and the guest speaker’s sermon was so powerful...one of those messages that sticks with you long after the service ends.

After church, we headed home to change and get ready for Mason’s hockey game. We picked up Nate’s parents and made the hour-long drive to the rink. Mason’s team fought hard and came out with a win! It wasn’t an easy game, but they pulled it together and came through. After the game, we all went to Chili’s for an early supper, which hit the spot.

When we got back home, Nate and I ended the day sitting outside watching the sunset. It was the perfect closing note to a full weekend... peaceful, beautiful, and exactly what my heart needed. I also cut another batch of fresh flowers for the week. I'll miss these come winter!

And that wraps up our weekend! It was one of those weekends that reminded me of what really matters...time with family, worshiping together, cheering on our boy, and catching sunsets with Nate. Simple moments, but so full of goodness. Here’s to carrying that same thankfulness into the new week ahead!
