What a weekend! One of those where you fall into bed at night both exhausted and grateful. From thrift store trips to hockey games, here’s a little recap of what our weekend looked like…
We kicked things off a little early on Friday...both Nate and I worked just a half day. After wrapping up work, I headed to a neurology appointment to meet my new neurologist for the first time. I was a little nervous about the switch, but it went really well. He was incredibly kind, took time to listen, and made some adjustments to my current medication. He also prescribed a new migraine preventative for me to try, so fingers crossed that it helps.
Before and after my appointment, I squeezed in a little thrifting—and y’all, I hit the jackpot! At the first thrift store, I found a pair of brand new Reef sandals for just $10, a Rangers t-shirt for Mason, a fishing shirt for Nate, and a couple of cute tops for myself. Then I swung by a second store and scored even more goodies: a tiered tray, a farmhouse-style storage piece, a pair of pants, a necklace, 2 pairs of brand new shorts for Mase, and a few more shirts. It was definitely one of those “meant to be” thrifting days! More on this later...
Meanwhile, Nate spent his afternoon golfing with some work friends before meeting us at the rink for Mason and Anders’ private hockey lesson. We weren’t even sure the lesson was still happening since the rink had been closed all week due to a water issue, but sure enough—it was on! To our surprise, Mason and Anders were the only two on the ice, which meant they got a full hour of quality coaching all to themselves. They worked hard and skated even harder. By the end, they were totally worn out.
Saturday was all about celebrating grads! We had two graduation parties to attend—one about an hour away in one direction, and the second in the opposite direction later that afternoon. It made for quite a bit of driving, but both parties were so fun and totally worth it. It’s always special to celebrate big milestones like that with family and friends, and we’re so proud of the graduates we got to honor!
Sunday brought more hockey fun. Mason had a game against their rival team—and it was a good one! His team came out on top with a 3-0 win, and it was such a fun and exciting game to watch. Mason played defense the entire game and had several really solid shots on goal. He’s been stepping into this new role lately and is really embracing it with confidence. I just love watching him grow and challenge himself in this sport he loves so much.
After the game, we headed to Pure Hockey in Southlake to get his new skates “baked” to his feet for a better fit. We also picked up new inserts and ordered new tongues for the skates. Then we made our way to Don Juan’s in Grand Prairie for supper—one of our all-time favorite places. It was the perfect way to end the weekend.
Once we got back home, we tackled a little housework and got things ready for the week ahead. It was a full weekend for sure—but one that left our hearts full, too.
