{Waxahachie Summer Bucketlist}

Summer in Texas might bring the heat... but Waxahachie brings the charm! 🌞💛

Our sweet little town absolutely comes alive this time of year...with sun-soaked festivals, hometown parades, local eats, and plenty of places to cool off and make memories with your favorite people. Whether you're a local or planning a weekend road trip, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite spots, events, and family-friendly adventures happening right here in Waxahachie this summer.

Here’s what’s on our Waxahachie Summer Bucket List this year:

Local Eats:
Because no summer adventure is complete without good food, right?

  • Pops Burger Stand – A Waxahachie classic! Think juicy burgers, hand-cut fries, and a nostalgic vibe that’ll have you craving a milkshake every time. It’s the perfect post-pool or post-parade stop.

  • Farmluck Soda Fountain & Dry Goods – If you haven’t had their famous sandwiches or sipped a handcrafted soda on a hot afternoon, you’re missing out! It’s retro, refreshing, and oh-so-fun.

  • Butter and Grace – This adorable café is as charming as its name. From brunch to baked goods, everything here feels like a big warm hug on a plate.

  • The Doves Nest – Part restaurant, part boutique, all kinds of lovely. Come for a delicious meal in the heart of the historic district, then stay and shop for unique home décor and gifts.

Summer Festivals and Events:

Mark your calendars, friends!

  • Summer Soul Affair – July 5, 2025
Held at Railyard Park, this free outdoor music festival brings soul, rhythm, and good vibes to downtown. With live performances, food trucks, and a laid-back summer atmosphere, it’s the perfect way to enjoy a warm July evening under the stars.

  • Liberty & Lemonade – June 28, 2025
Nothing says summer like lemonade and patriotism! Held downtown, this family-friendly event includes a festive parade, live music, food vendors, and kids’ activities. It’s a great way to kick off your 4th of July celebrations early.

  • 4th of July Parade – July 4, 2025
A true Waxahachie tradition. The streets of our historic downtown fill with floats, flags, music, and community spirit. Get there early to snag a shady spot and wave your flag high!

Places to Cool Off:

Because Texas heat doesn’t play...

  • Lee Penn Park Pool – Located at 1000 W Main St, this spot is a local favorite. With slides, splash zones, and lifeguards on duty, it’s ideal for a full day of water fun with the kids.

  • Waxahachie Splash Pad – Also at 1000 W Main, the splash pad is perfect for littles who want to run through fountains and soak up the fun without full-on swimming. Free, safe, and a hit every summer.

  • Optimist Pool – Another great public pool option with seasonal hours. It’s well-kept and less crowded, offering a chill spot to swim and relax.

  • Waxahachie Lake – Pack a picnic, bring the kayaks, or just sit by the water and soak in the serenity. Lake days are some of my favorite days.

Shopping & Wandering through History:

If you’re like me and love a mix of charm and treasure hunting...

  • West End Historic District – This area is full of character, with stunning Victorian homes and quaint streets perfect for evening walks. It’s also a fun backdrop for snapping some sweet summer photos!

  • Downtown Waxahachie Square – From antiques to boutiques to books, the downtown square is full of hidden gems and friendly faces. It’s the heart of our little town and a great place to support local businesses.

Summer in Waxahachie is what small-town dreams are made of...full of life, laughter, and love. Whether we’re sipping sweet tea on the porch, dancing at a festival downtown, or cooling off at the pool with our kids, every little moment becomes a sweet memory.

So grab your people, make your list, and get out there and explore all that Waxahachie has to offer this season!

☀️ Happy Summer, y’all!
