{National Best Friends Day // 5 Ways to Be a Godly Friend}

Happy National Best Friends Day, y’all! 🖤

What a sweet reminder to pause and reflect on the friendships that shape our lives...the kind that cheer us on, pray us through, and show up in both the chaos and the calm. Whether you’ve had the same bestie since kindergarten or you’re walking into a new season with fresh friendships, today’s a good day to look at friendship through a Kingdom lens.

God created us for relationship, with Him, and with each other. Scripture is full of examples of rich, honest, loyal friendship (I’m looking at you, David and Jonathan!). It’s more than just shared laughs or weekend plans...it’s soul work. So, here are 5 ways we can be godly friends...the kind that reflect Christ in how we love.

1. Be Present - In Every Season
Whether it's showing up with coffee after a hard week or texting "I'm praying for you" out of the blue...presence matters. You don’t have to fix everything, just be there. Life ebbs and flows, and so do friendships, but consistency speaks volumes.
“A friend loves at all times.” – Proverbs 17:17

2. Pray for Her (and With Her)
Prayer is one of the most powerful gifts you can offer a friend. Pray over her family, her health, her dreams, her heart. And don’t be afraid to pray out loud with her...in the car, at the kitchen table, in the middle of a meltdown. Invite Jesus right into the middle of it.

3. Speak Truth in Love
Sometimes godly friendship means saying the hard things gently...reminding her of who God says she is, even when she forgets. A true friend points back to truth, even when it’s uncomfortable. Do it with grace, always.
“Wounds from a friend can be trusted.” – Proverbs 27:6

4. Celebrate and Cheer Loudly
Be her biggest cheerleader. When she wins, celebrate like it’s your own victory. When she’s walking through the valley, remind her she’s not alone. Godly friends don’t compete, they champion each other.

5. Point Her Back to Jesus
At the end of the day, the most loving thing we can do as a friend is to point each other to Christ. When life feels heavy or confusing or broken, remind her where her help comes from. Pray scripture over her. Send the verse. Share your testimony. Encourage her to run to the Father, not the world.

Friendship is holy ground, and when we show up with grace, humility, and the heart of Jesus,  something beautiful happens. We reflect Him.

So today, let’s send the text. Make the call. Drop off the Sonic drink. Let our friends know we see them, love them, and are thankful for them.

And if you’re in a season where friendship feels distant or dry? Ask God to bring the right people into your life...and ask Him to shape you into that kind of friend too.

🖤 With love,
Crystal
