{Colorado by the Numbers // A Road Trip Recap}

Our road trip from Waxahachie, TX to Colorado Springs, CO was nothing short of incredible. From stunning mountain views to thrift store treasures and some “oh wow” bucket list moments, we packed so much into our adventure...and had a blast counting it all along the way. Here's our Colorado trip... broken down by the numbers.

$2.19 — The cost of Nate "topping off" the gas tank... even though we were already pretty full. It’s the principle, right?

3 Starbucks drinks — Because road trips and caffeine go hand in hand.

163 miles — To our first stop: Northside Grill.

3 suitcases, 1 hockey bag, 1 overnight bag, 1 snack bag — Loaded down like pros. And the snack bag had approximately 5011 snacks (give or take).

3 hockey sticks and 2 pairs of ice skates — Because when you’re headed to hockey camp, you don’t mess around.

3 states crossed — Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado.

15 Forrest Frank songs played while I was the DJ.

11:38 pm — Our arrival time at the hotel.

Room 206 — our hotel room # the first night...complete with what sounded like a full-on marching band practice overhead.

5 roadside crosses — Quiet reminders!

27 pronghorn — Spotted along the drive, just doing their thing in the wild.

5 days at camp — Mason crushed it at hockey camp! So proud of him.

2:25 am — That one night the boys stayed up way too late...

50-11 times (at least!) — One of us said, “This is so cool.” Because honestly, it was.

Group 2 — Mason’s group for camp.

5 things bought at the Air Force gift shop.

2 thrift stores — You know we couldn’t skip Thrifted Thursday (even on vacation).

Seats 10 & 11 — Where we sat to cheer on Mason during his first ice time.

4 diners — We never pass up a classic diner breakfast... or pie.

1 elk sighting — One massive, majestic elk out in the wild.

14 bucket list items checked off ✔️

9 bucket list items still waiting for next time ✖️

6 wild turkeys

2 castles — Yep, castles — in Colorado!

82° at the bottom of Pikes Peak

55° at the summit of Pikes Peak
14,115 ft elevation — The summit had us breathless... literally.

60s to 800s — brake temp highs and lows for the day coming down Pike's Peak

 140° - our brake temp

Final Score: 5-8 — The game didn’t go our way, but it was a great match.

2 B1 bombers flying around town

219 - our room number on the way back

3 magnets bought

4 stickers bought

1700ish total miles driven

11.15 hours spent on the ice

1400ish photos and videos taken throughout the week

This trip was one for the books — a mix of hockey, history, high-altitude adventure, and so many unforgettable moments as a family. Colorado, we love you big... and we’ll definitely be back.

Until the next road trip...
