{The Best iPhone Road Trip Apps}

Y’all know we love a good road trip around here... especially when it involves chasing sunsets, new adventures, or heading west to the mountains. Over the years...and after many miles on the road,  I’ve discovered a few trusty iPhone apps that make all the difference. From finding clean restrooms (you’re welcome, mamas) to discovering hidden gems and documenting the journey... these apps are tried and true road trip gold.

So whether you're road-tripping across Texas or heading into the Rockies like we are this week, here are my favorite iPhone apps to make your next adventure even smoother.

1. Roadtrippers

This one is a must-have. Roadtrippers lets you map out your entire route and helps you find interesting stops along the way...think quirky roadside attractions, scenic spots, historical markers, and yummy restaurants. You can even save your trip and share it with friends or family. It turns every road trip into an adventure, not just a drive.

Why I love it: We’ve found some of the coolest local places we never would’ve discovered without it... and it makes planning actually fun!

2. Gas Buddy

Let’s be honest...gas prices can sneak up on you real quick. GasBuddy helps you find the cheapest gas prices near you or along your route. It’s super handy when you’re on those long Texas highways with miles between towns.

Why I love it: It helps us save money for the fun stuff... like snacks and souvenirs!

3. Yelp

When you're hungry and craving something other than fast food, Yelp is your best friend. I always search for locally-owned restaurants with good reviews, and it almost never steers me wrong. It’s how we’ve found some of our favorite diners, BBQ joints, and little cafes off the beaten path.

Why I love it: Supporting small businesses and discovering hidden gems is my favorite.

4. Flush

This one might not be glamorous... but Flush is a real MVP when you’re traveling with kiddos. It’s a bathroom finder app that shows you the closest public restrooms...complete with notes on cleanliness and accessibility.

Why I love it: Because when Mason was younger, we needed this one a lot. Now, I still use it because no one wants to take chances on sketchy rest stops.

5. iExit

iExit tells you exactly what’s coming up at the next exits on major highways — including food, gas, hotels, and even attractions. It’s a great tool if you don’t want to keep pulling over or fumbling with maps.

Why I love it: You can plan your stops with a little less guesswork... which helps if you’ve got a car full of hangry travelers.

6. Spotify or Apple Music

No road trip is complete without the perfect playlist. I always make a fun family mix of worship music, country road trip tunes, and even a little 80s/90s throwback. Just be sure to download your favorites in case you lose service along the way.

Why I love it: Music makes the miles go faster... and there's something magical about worship songs with the windows down and the open road ahead.

Bonus: Life360

For peace of mind, especially when traveling with teens or in a caravan with friends or family, Life360 allows you to see each other’s locations in real-time. It also alerts your people if you’re stuck or need help.

Why I love it: Safety first, always.

Whether you're driving across Texas or heading into the mountains like us this summer, these apps can help make your trip a little easier... a little more fun... and a lot more memorable.

Got a favorite app I missed? I’d love to hear about it!

Happy road-trippin’, y’all 🚗🌄
