{Thrifted Thursday // A Bible Basket}

Welcome to the second edition of Thrifted Thursday here on Hall Around Texas! You can find the first of this series, here

One of my absolute favorite things about thrifting is when it leads to something deeply meaningful. This week’s Thrifted Thursday find isn’t just a great score...it’s a whole basket full of purpose, love, and intention.

While we were on vacation in Mason, TX (such a charming little town), we popped into the cutest Christian boutique. While we were browsing, someone dear to me casually mentioned that she had been reading the Bible, but very slowly because she was using this tiny pocket-sized one. The second she said that, I felt a nudge in my heart. I just knew I wanted to build her a Bible basket.

I also know my sister-in-law loves thrifting just as much as I do, so it felt only right to start with a thrifted Bible. Thrifting Bibles has become one of my favorite little missions. I love flipping through the pages and finding underlined verses, scribbled notes in the margins, and old bookmarks tucked inside. It feels like discovering tiny heart treasures from someone else’s walk with the Lord. Whenever I find a Bible like that, I stop and say a prayer for the person who used it before...and for the one who will hold it next. It’s one of the sweetest honors.

I also wanted to thrift the basket itself, and my favorite little thrift store in a nearby town totally came through for me. Tucked high up on the top shelf was this beautiful vintage picnic basket...the one. I practically stood on my tiptoes to snatch it down like a kid going for candy. It was perfect.

To complete the basket, I filled it with some of my favorite Bible study tools:
🖊️ My go-to highlighters and pens (no bleed, of course)
📖 A couple of cute journals
📚 Handmade bookmarks and Bible tassels
💌 A card where I shared my favorite Bible reading plan (The Bible Recap with Tara-Leigh Cobble) and tips to help make daily study easier and more approachable.

This was such a joy to put together. I pray she feels encouraged and excited to continue digging into the Word at her own pace. And I hope every time she reaches into that basket, she knows how loved and supported she is.

Thrifted finds are fun, but thrifted finds with heart and intention? Those are the absolute best.

Until next time, happy thrifting!
Crystal 💛
