{ADVENT // 2022}

Advent to the Christian family is a time to prepare our hearts for the celebration of the birth of Christ. It reminds us to set aside some time during the busyness of the season and to reflect on the miracle that is Jesus. He is the reason for the season.

If I am being honest, we do many different types of Advent calendars around here.  There's something special about counting down to Christmas in different ways that make my heart so incredibly happy! Of course,  the most important is a scripture calendar. We do several of those along with a Lego Advent, candy advent, and sometimes a book advent. Here's a look at our Advent calendars for 2022 and how we do the Advent season.

1.) Bible Verse Countdown for kids

I grabbed this free advent printable and printed it out on cardstock.  I normally just use little clips and attach these to a string of jute. However, this year I found the cutest Advent calendar at Dollar Tree. It was in the  $5 plus section of my store and looked so perfect for this scripture advent. It's colorful and matches the pictures in the scripture cards well. We will start this Bible verse advent on December 1st and read a scripture every day until Christmas. We reflect on that scripture and dive deeper into it in our Bibles.

2.) Scripture Advent Calendar (A DIY)

For years, I used these free printable advent tags and wrote scriptures on the back leading up to the birth of Jesus. I love these tags and found it hard to part with them this year. But when I saw these advent cards, I knew I had to change it up! These are stunning!! And I love that they include a family activity under the scripture. I printed these on glossy cardstock and then strung them with jute across a window pane I have. Not only is it a functional Advent calendar, it's also a beautiful display in our home.

3.) Advent plans on the Bible App

Along with the two scripture Advent calendars above, I searched "Advent" under the plans on the Bible app and selected several to read throughout this season. I found so many amazing studies that have filled my heart with so much hope.

4.) Lego Advent & Chocolate Advent

Mason's Elves always bring Mason an Advent calendar on December 1 - usually a Lego Advent. This year, the Elves brought a Star Wars Lego Advent as well as a Star Wars candy Advent.

How do you do Advent?
