Maybe I am that crazy chicken lady!!
And honestly? I'm totally okay with it.
No matter how long I've had chickens, collecting eggs will always be one of my favorite things!! Especially when you finally have a flock of hens that leave you beautiful eggs!!
This morning we went to our nephew's soccer game. That's always a fun time! After the game, Nate's parents had the boys over and since we live right behind them, we got to visit with them too! We had a sweet little time playing outside, holding the chickens, gathering eggs, and even a little frog catching.
Happy Wednesday! It's been quite a week already and thus the reason I am just now getting to share about our weekend. Work has been absolutely insane this week. I told Nate that it feels like it's rapid-fire email week. As soon as I finish one, seven more come in. Monday evening we had Mason's first hockey practice with his team he will be on for league. More on that later! But for now, here is a look at our weekend.
Happy Friday! For whatever reason, this week feels like it flew by in a flash. I'm not mad about it! We had a pretty good week! Today I am sharing five random things for Five on Friday...
Happy Monday! Hope you all had a beautiful weekend. We sure did! It was the perfect mix of going & doing and staying & being productive! I love those kinds of weekends when you feel like you had some fun but then you were really productive at the same time. Here's a look at our weekend.
Back in February, I started over with a whole new flock of chickens. My hens are all getting to the "laying" age, so I have been on egg watch like a crazy chicken lady. Although, I haven't been too hopeful due to the heat in Texas right now. You can imagine my surprise this weekend when I found THREE eggs in my chicken coop!
Happy Monday!! Last week seemed to fly by (which was really good) but then I feel like the weekend went by even quicker. And here we are, already at Monday again. Despite how quickly it went, we had a great weekend. Here's a look at what we did!
We spent some of the weekend finishing up the work on the chicken coop. We put up a new (heavy-duty) aviary net to help keep predators out of the coop and run. This net is legit and so much better than the previous one we had up!
Yesterday was an exciting day for the chicks!! They have moved to their new home. I'm sure they are so excited to have all the space in the coop! They were starting to run out of space in their brooder. It's funny how big they look in the brooder and then how small they look in the coop.
Starting fresh with a new flock of chickens this year! I was able to find the breeds that I wanted right here in town at Atwoods and Tractor Supply.
Our sweet Birdie hatched five baby chicks!! She is the sweetest mama and these chicks are just precious. We spend time with them every day, holding them and loving on them. I want them to be friendly as they grow! They are just too cute for words.
A few weeks ago I shared my chicken coop all decorated for Valentine's Day. Well, I just updated it for the next holiday...St Patrick's Day!!
One of my favorite things about my coop is being able to change out the decor for each holiday! I have two window flower boxes that I switch up the flowers in and I usually hang a decorative sign on the door. I recently decorated for Valentine's Day and I am loving the pops of pink and red!
Who in the world ever thought I would be a crazy chicken mama? But here I am...and I am loving it! They are so much fun to watch and learn. I am enjoying getting to know each one a little better.
It's an EGG-citing day here at Hall farms! We got our first egg today!! I have no clue which hen laid the egg, but it's so exciting nonetheless! I knew that we were in the time range for them to start laying, but it's just been a waiting game!!
I have finally named all of our chickens!! I've had a list of names in my phone for the longest time, but have been waiting to learn their personalities more before assigning them to the chickens! It's been so much fun to watch them grow and watch their little personalities develop! So, without further ado, here's our chickens by name!
Nathan's mom had the boys on Saturday and brought them over to visit. We just so happened to be outside working on the chicken coop and they wanted to help! They are the cutest little farmers ever. We had such a sweet time with our nephews!
Now that our chickens have gotten acclimated to their new home/coop, we can let them free range in their run. Just one more step before they're free to roam the full 2 acres. Nathan and I ordered a safety net to put over our chicken run to keep out predators, so that makes me feel better! There's only a small part of the coop area that is not covered and that's so that we can open and close the coop door! Our chickens are loving this new freedom and we are enjoying watching them!
