This weekend was such a sweet one…a good balance of work, rest, and play! I always love weekends where we can fit in time with friends, family, and still have space to just breathe. Here’s a little peek into what our days looked like…
Friday was pretty low-key! I worked my 8-4 while Nate helped mow a neighbor’s yard and then tackled our own. (Bless him...it’s been so hot lately and yard work is no joke in this Texas heat!) That evening we had supper and then headed over to visit Nate’s parents for a bit. I’m always grateful for evenings like that…slow, simple, and filled with family.
Saturday
We were up bright and early because we had a fun day ahead! We met up with our framily (friend group) at the Dallas Zoo to celebrate sweet Arabella’s 3rd birthday. It was such a joy to be together with friends...our lives have all gotten crazy lately and it had been a while since we were ALL together. The zoo did not disappoint! The Texas heat, however…that’s a different story. ha! When we got in the car to leave it said 106 degrees. BRUTAL. Many of the animals were inactive because it was soooo hot. We still had a great time and Arabella had a great birthday celebration. I think the butterfly exhibit was my favorite! Nate got caught holding my purse while I was in said exhibit...haha
After the zoo, we came home, cooled off, and just relaxed for a while. That evening we made another visit over to Nate’s parents. We are in the process of looking for a car for Mason and we always discuss any big decisions with Nate's parents. We value their advice and opinion and have just always gone this route. They've never led us astray! Plus, it's always nice to just get to visit and hang out together.
Sunday
Sunday morning we got up and went to the early service at church. It was Life Day and oh my goodness…so powerful. Over 60 baptisms at our service alone. Life Day always makes me weepy...it’s just incredible to witness people publicly declaring their faith in Jesus and taking that step of obedience. There is truly nothing more beautiful than seeing lives changed and eternity impacted! Our sermon was a continuation in the Fruits of the Spirit series, and it was such a timely message. (I’ll share more on that later this week.)
The rest of the day was a mix of productivity and family things. We came home, knocked out some chores, and then took Mason to look at a car. How are we already in this stage of life? I feel like he was just a little boy yesterday. The car ended up being in pretty rough shape, so we passed, but he has a specific one in mind so patience will be key here! Later that evening we ran out for Lexi’s raw dog food, grabbed a sweet tea, and came home to make supper. We finished out the night just relaxing together.
All in all, it was such a good weekend. I loved the mix of fun, family, and faith all woven together. Those always end up being my favorite kind of weekends...the ones where I feel both filled up and refreshed.
Linking up with Holly and Sarah for Hello Monday...
