{Currently // August 2025}

It’s hard to believe we’re heading into the final stretch of summer! While the days are still hot here in Texas, I can already feel that little shift…the one that hints at cozy mornings, fall traditions, and hockey rinks in our near future. I’m linking up today for the Currently series where we’re chatting about what we’re currently loving, looking forward to, scheduling, buying, and gearing up for. Let’s dive in!

Loving
So many things right now!! For starters, I’m loving that I am finally able to truly enjoy reading again. When I was going through all of my head issues, I couldn't focus on a book or reading. My eye site was terrible, there was too much eye and head pressure, and I just couldn't do it. I’ve been flying through books...both paperbacks and on my Kindle...and it’s been such a joy to get lost in stories again. I’m also currently watching bingeing Sullivan’s Crossing and I can’t get enough. Give me all the small-town drama and heartwarming storylines!

I’m also loving the slower pace of summer…being home with my boys, blogging more consistently, and getting to tend to my cut flowers. There's just something about sipping sweet tea while admiring blooms that you grew yourself. We also reworked a gallery wall in our home recently and I love how refreshed and personalized it feels now.

Other little joys? Paper Mate pens (always), press-on nails (saving SO much time compared to doing my own dip!), dreaming about fall, moving décor around and freshening up corners of our home, and spending intentional time in the Word thanks to the She Reads Truth app. Just so much to be grateful for and enjoy in this season.

Looking Forward To
Fall hockey! Mason’s JV Silver team roster is crazy good and should be an incredible season. I just know it’s going to be such a fun one to watch. I’m excited to see him continue growing as a player and chasing his passion on the ice. 

And of course…Thanksgiving in Tennessee! I cannot wait to visit family, especially my grandparents...two of my very favorite people in the world. I’m already counting down the days until I get to hug their necks and soak up time with them.

Scheduling
Right now, it’s mostly doctor’s appointments. I had my neurology appointment this past Friday and I’ve got a consultation with my OB/GYN coming up for surgery, as well as an ophthalmology appointment. Just doing the follow-ups and checking things off the list. Grateful to be under the care of doctors I trust.

Buying
Hockey gear and all things related to the sport, because of course! Anyone else who has a hockey kid knows how much of an investment this sport is, but truly, every single penny is worth it to see Mason doing what he loves. Watching him come alive on the ice brings us all so much joy.

Gearing Up For
Honestly, this overlaps quite a bit with what I’m looking forward to…we’re gearing up for fall hockey season, of course! And even though we technically get a short break, Mason is still doing weekly private lessons and Hockey Pro Time, so we’re never too far removed from the rink.

Also, I am gearing up Bible time on the porch when it's not too hot! That's always my favorite time. 

As we soak up the final stretch of summer, I’m holding tightly to the sweet, simple joys this season has brought, while also getting excited for all that’s ahead. From time at home with my boys to fresh blooms and quiet mornings with Jesus, it’s been a season of slowing down and savoring. And now, as we gear up for a full and exciting fall, I’m reminded how beautiful it is to live in the tension of both gratitude and anticipation.
