{From the Front Porch // Thunder & Hummingbirds}

This evening, I found myself drawn to the front porch...the air heavy with the promise of rain, the clouds just starting to roll in. I brought out my devotional and coffee, not expecting a holy moment, but that’s exactly what I got.

I sat in the stillness, the kind that only comes right before a storm, when everything seems to pause. I could hear the low rumble of thunder in the distance...strong, mighty, commanding attention. At the same time, the soft flutter of wings caught my ear. A hummingbird zipped past, delicate and determined, making its way to our flower bush just a few feet from me.

{A Dinner with Lifelong Friends}

Last week, I mentioned that I was going to dinner with some friends (and our teacher) that I’ve known for… well, about 37 years! We got together last Wednesday at the same spot we met back in 2011. It was such a sweet, nostalgic time together.

{Wednesday Hodgepodge // Midweek Musings}

Time for another round of Wednesday Hodgepodge! I always love linking up for these posts because the questions are so fun and random… and you just never know what direction they’ll take you. I feel like I don't have much to offer this week, but let’s dive right in anyway!

{Waxahachie Wednesday // Morning Table // Waxahachie’s Cozy Brunch Gem

Happy Waxahachie Wednesday, y’all! Today, I’m shining a light on a charming breakfast and brunch spot right here in Waxahachie: Morning Table. If you're on the hunt for a place that offers good eats, warm hospitality, and a lovely atmosphere, this one's a must-visit.

{Texas Tuesday // Texas Burger Bucketlist}

Texas Burger Bucket List | 4 Must-Try Burger Joints in the Lone Star State

If there’s one thing Texas knows how to do right, besides BBQ, tacos, and sweet tea, it’s a good, juicy burger. We’ve got no shortage of iconic, mom-and-pop, griddle-sizzled masterpieces scattered across this great state. And over the years, my family and I have made it a little mission of ours to find the best of the best.

So today I’m kicking off our Texas Burger Bucket List...a roundup of places that have won us over one bite at a time. Whether you’re road-tripping through small towns or exploring local gems, these spots are absolutely worth the stop (and the calories).

{Happy 19th Anniversary, My Love}

Almost 29 years ago, I was just a young girl with a big crush and an even bigger dream. I remember running around telling all of my best girlfriends that I was going to marry you one day. I just knew deep in my heart that you were the one God had set apart for me. And guess what? I was right.

{Weekend Wrap-up & Hello Monday // August 2025}

This weekend was a little different for us. Nate had to work Friday through Sunday in preparation for Governor Greg Abbott and another important guest coming to sign a big contract. I thought I might use the weekend to really knock some things off my to-do list and be productive…but truthfully, I was only semi-productive. Something shifts when we aren’t together, and I’m not a big fan of it. I’m just so lost without him. I’ll try to dive into projects, but most of the time I find myself just waiting for him to walk through that door again. After 29 years together, I still want to spend every moment with him, and I don’t take that gift lightly! Anyhow, here’s a peek at our “different” kind of weekend.

{From the Front Porch // Sacred Sunsets}

There are few things in life that stop me in my tracks the way a sunset does. You’ll often find me pulling off to the side of a country road, barefoot on the porch, or stepping away from dinner just to watch the sky unfold.

It’s not just the colors...though those fiery oranges, soft purples, and glowing pinks always feel like a love letter from Heaven...it’s the way a sunset speaks to my soul.

Sunsets are sacred to me.

{Wednesday Hodgepodge // 8-20-2025}

It’s time for another round of Wednesday Hodgepodge questions! I’ll be honest… I almost skipped out on today because of the kind of week I’ve been having. You know those weeks where everything feels a little heavier than it should? That’s been me. But then I thought about how much I actually look forward to these Hodgepodge posts each week...not just writing my answers, but also hopping around and visiting all of my favorite bloggers to see how they answered, too. It always feels a little like catching up with friends over coffee. So instead of sulking through the week, I figured this would be the perfect way to lift my spirits a bit. Sometimes a handful of fun questions is just what the heart needs.

{Texas Tuesday // The Roadside Tomb of Christ in Brownfield, TX}

There's something truly special about discovering faith-based roadside attractions...especially the ones that stop you in your tracks and stir your heart. On a trip through West Texas, we stumbled across a place that did exactly that: a large white cross and a walk-in tomb, quietly nestled off the highway just outside of Brownfield, TX.

Welcome to this week’s Texas Tuesday, where I’m spotlighting the powerful and peaceful Roadside Tomb of Christ, located on U.S. Highway 380 just a few miles west of Brownfield.

{Weekend Wrap-up // Dallas Zoo, Church, Car Shopping}

This weekend was such a sweet one…a good balance of work, rest, and play! I always love weekends where we can fit in time with friends, family, and still have space to just breathe. Here’s a little peek into what our days looked like…

{From the Front Porch // A Legacy of Faith}

 Written on 8/11

This morning, Nate and I arrived a little early for the early service at church. Because of that, we were among the first to step into the sanctuary… or so we thought. We picked our spot and then I noticed something beautiful...the middle section was already filled. Row after row of eager high school students sat together, greeting each other, laughing, chatting with our youth leader. You could feel the energy in the room before the music even started...

{Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T. // 2nd Edition}

Happy Friday! I'm so delighted to share a 2nd edition of a new little series here on the blog that I’m calling weekly R.E.P.O.R.T. — a weekly roundup of different topics. This will change with the times and seasons.

This week I am sharing what I’m Reading, Experiencing, Planning, Overcoming, Recording, and Treasuring. Think of it as a peek into my heart and home, kind of like sitting on the front porch with a glass of sweet tea and catching up. Let’s jump in…

{Thrifted Thursday // A Stack of Faith-Filled Finds}

If you’ve been around here long, you know I love a good thrift store. There’s just something about hunting through the shelves, never knowing what little treasure the Lord might have waiting for you. One of my absolute favorite spots to browse is Pennies From Heaven…a local thrift shop run by a church, and y’all... I always I find the best stuff there every single time.

I especially love that because it’s church-run, they always have an incredible selection of faith-based books, devotionals, Bibles, wall art, and more. And let me tell you...I recently hit the jackpot. On my latest visit, I walked out with a stack of books that had me grinning from ear to ear!

{Juggling Family Schedules // Let's Look Linkup}

Joining Shay at Mix and Match Mama and Erika at A Little Bit of Everything for this month’s “Let’s Look” link-up where we’re talking all about juggling family schedules.

Oh August... how I used to dread and loathe you...

{Wednesday Hodgepodge // Aug 13}

I’m linking up with Joyce again for this fun weekly series. I always enjoy answering these random questions and reading how others respond. So, let’s jump in…

{Texas Tuesday // The Mysterious Marfa Lights}

 If you’re a fan of strange phenomena and Texas-sized mysteries, the Marfa Lights are a must-see on your travel list. Nestled in the high desert of West Texas near the tiny town of Marfa, these glowing orbs have fascinated visitors and locals alike for over a century.

{Weekend Wrap-Up // Back to School Bash & Sweet Time Together}

We had such a chill, heart-filling weekend… the kind with plenty of time at home, sprinkled with family, friends, and a few little adventures. It was lovely from start to finish.

{From the Front Porch // The Marina & the Master}

Written on 7/22

We recently returned from the sweetest beach trip to Freeport, TX, where our beach house was tucked right on the marina. All day long, we watched boats of every size quietly come and go...fishermen casting lines at sunrise, families returning after a day on the water, even the occasional yacht coasting by as the sun dipped low on the horizon. There was a gentle rhythm to it all. The comings and goings. The stillness and the motion. The waiting and the moving forward.

{Five on Friday // Florida, Blogging Schedule, Social Media, DIY}

 It's been a while since I have done a Five on Friday post, where I share five things from our week, so here I am. Last week I shared a weekly REPORT and I think I'll alternate between that format and this one each week. Anyhow, our week has been a good one...pretty routine for us. We are in between hockey seasons right now, so our only time at the rink is when we pick up a private lesson. It feels weird to not be at the rink 4-6 days a week right now. But, we are soaking in the time at home before our busy season ramps up again. I was able to cook meals at home this week and that was a sweet blessing!

Here's a look at five things from our week...

{Thrifted Thursday // A Treasure-Filled Day at Pennies from Heaven}

Do you ever just know it’s going to be a good thrifting day? Like deep down in your soul you can feel it...something magical is waiting for you. That was me on this particular trip to my favorite local spot, Pennies from Heaven. And friends, let me tell you…it did not disappoint!

{Currently // August 2025}

It’s hard to believe we’re heading into the final stretch of summer! While the days are still hot here in Texas, I can already feel that little shift…the one that hints at cozy mornings, fall traditions, and hockey rinks in our near future. I’m linking up today for the Currently series where we’re chatting about what we’re currently loving, looking forward to, scheduling, buying, and gearing up for. Let’s dive in!

{Wednesday Hodgepodge // Perfect Summer Days, High School Memories + Pickles}

Happy Wednesday, friends! It’s time for another round of Wednesday Hodgepodge...one of my favorite link-ups where we answer a set of fun and reflective questions from Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond. I love the variety in these prompts and how they spark both nostalgic thoughts and current day feels.

So, let’s jump into this week’s questions…

{Texas Tuesday // Prayer Mountain in Dallas, TX}

There’s something sacred about stepping into a space that feels like your soul can finally exhale. Last Sunday, Nate and I made a spontaneous visit to Prayer Mountain in Dallas...and y’all, from the very moment we stepped out of the car, I knew I was somewhere special. It was like the world faded away, and in its place came stillness, scripture, and sweet peace. Welcome to this little spot of heaven right in the heart of Texas...

{Weekend Wrap-Up // Thrift Stores, Praise Reports, and Peaceful Moments}

Some weekends feel like a deep breath...the kind that fills your lungs, slows your pace, and brings a smile to your soul. This was one of those weekends. It was a beautiful blend of errands, productivity, rest, family time, and unexpected God moments...the kind you just know you'll carry with you for a while. We had a full few days, and I truly wasn't ready to give it up come Monday morning.

{From the Front Porch // What I Hope They Say}

The other day, my sister tagged me in one of those funny Facebook memes. It said something like, “I wonder if my siblings show people a picture of me and say, ‘This is my mean sister.’” I laughed out loud, because y’all… if you know my sister, you know she’s a literal angel on earth. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. It was all in good fun, and of course, just a sisterly joke.

But it got me thinking.

{Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T. // 1st Edition}

Happy Friday! I'm so excited to kick off a new little series here on the blog that I’m calling R.E.P.O.R.T. — a weekly roundup of different topics. This will change with the times and seasons. This week I am sharing what I’m Reading, Embracing, Praying, Organizing, Recommending, and Tackling. Think of it as a peek into my heart and home, kind of like sitting on the front porch with a glass of sweet tea and catching up. Let’s jump in…
