As I mentioned before, there are so many little worries and anxieties that fill a mama's heart at the start of each new school year. I shared recently that I wanted to hand those worries and anxieties over to God and shared some Prayers for Back to School. Today I wanted to share some prayers I have been praying over Mason's new teachers and previous teachers. I think it's so important to remember our teachers and to cover them in prayer daily. The magnitude of their job cannot be measured, the least {and greatest} thing we can do is pray for them. These people pour into the heart, soul and mind of our children day in and day out. As a mama there is nothing more precious than someone that pours into your child. It brings me to tears. They are there with them when we cannot be. They are right there along side us shaping them into amazing little people. Mason has truly been blessed with the most amazing teachers in Pre-K, Kinder and First and I pray that continues with 2nd grade. Today I am sharing 8 prayers for teachers.
1.) I N G E N E R A L -
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
- 1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV)
Lord, I lift up to you all of the teachers that are about to embark on a new school year. I pray that you have renewed and refreshed their spirit and prepared their hearts to love on our children. Lord, equip them to effectively lead their classrooms and the wisdom to choose well . Lord, I pray that in a place where you are not allowed in curriculum that You shine and be glorified through our teachers. Father, I pray that you constantly remind these teachers of the reason they were called to do what they do and that they know what a gift it is to teach these little ones. Father, I pray for opportunities for our teachers to point our children to Christ. Even if this is just showing Christ' love to someone that may need it. I pray that You, God, speak through our teachers by their words and actions. And Dear Lord, thank you for these teachers who pour into the lives, hearts, minds and souls of our children day in and day out. Bless them, Father and let them see the impact they make on our children. Amen.
2.) P E A C E -
2.) P E A C E -
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
- 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
Lord, I pray that you wrap these teachers up in an overwhelming sense of peace as they prepare for a new year. Let their hearts not be troubled with the anxieties of preparing their classrooms, lesson planning, meeting new students, new parents and a whole new dynamic of a classroom. Lord, I pray that you cover these classrooms with calmness and peace so that when anyone steps in it they feel it. Father, I pray that our teachers turn to You when they are feeling overwhelmed for we know that in your presence there is a peace that passes all understanding. Amen.
3.) L O V E & C O M P A S S I O N -
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
- Colossians 3:12 (NIV)
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
- Ephesians 4:2
Lord, I pray that our teachers not only teach our children, but that they will show Christ' love and compassion to our children every single day. I pray that they love our children in a way that reflects the Gospel. I know that in a non- Christian environment that may be hard, but with You, Lord, it's possible. For I know that if they have You in them it will pour out into our children. Amen.
4.) P A T I E N C E -
4.) P A T I E N C E -
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
- Ephesians 4:2 (NIV)
Lord, I pray that you richly bless our teachers with patience. I know the job of a teacher must be so demanding and stressful at times and I pray for patience and peace as they navigate through those times. I pray that they are patient even with those students that try their patience the most. Lord, equip our teachers to have the patience to get to know our children and learn their needs. We know that some students may come in with less than an ideal home life and I pray that our teachers have the patience to build them up, encourage them and fill their little hearts with hope. Father, please let our teacher's experience Your peace in the midst of difficult situations, students or parents. Amen.
5.) G R A C E -
But to each one of us grace has been give as Christ apportioned it.
- Ephesians 4:7 (NIV)
Lord, I pray for grace for our teachers and the ability to both give grace and receive grace. I pray that our teachers will let the Holy Spirit lead them to find the perfect balance between grace and consequences as we know that both are important in the classroom. Lord, I pray that our teachers are able to receive grace when things seem overwhelming and they feel inadequate. Amen.
6.) E N D U R A N C E & P E R S E V E R A N C E -
The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.
- Ecclesiastes 7:8 (NIV)
Lord, I pray for emotional, spiritual and physical endurance for our teachers throughout the entire school year. I pray that they are enabled with the energy to keep up the momentum throughout the entire school year and not lose heart or experience burnout of any kind. Father, I pray that you keep our teachers committed, eager and excited throughout the entire school year and not just in the beginning. Father, I pray that our teachers can find the joy in a mundane Monday and the energy to keep teaching with excitement. Lord, I pray that our teachers get sleep and adequate time for resting so that they are refreshed for the school days. Amen.
7.) W I S D O M -
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
- James 1:5 (NIV)
Lord, I pray that you equip our teachers with wisdom. I pray that they have the wisdom to know how to handle situations in the classroom, how to communicate with parents, as they write lesson plans, and learning individual needs of each of their students. Father, I pray that it is You that they come to when they need guidance throughout the school year. Amen.
8.) J O Y -
I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
- John 15:11 (NIV)
Lord, I pray that our teachers experience true joy in their role as a teacher each and every day. I pray that our teachers are able to enjoy every moment and are able to laugh with their students. For if a teacher has true joy then they are able to rejoice with us parents as our children make progress and achievements in their academics. Amen.
If we take the time and intentionally pray for our teachers I believe the school year will be that much better!
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
- James 5:16b (KJV)

I love this so much! Teachers definitely need prayer because they have such a tough job. The expectations are so high, but the payoff can be just as great! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't even with all these teachers do for our kids and how difficult their job is! I am amazed by them daily. Such a great post and they deserve our prayers so much!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful prayers friend. It is so important to take things to the Lord in prayer.
ReplyDeleteIt is always SO hard to leave our kids in the care of others all day, so all we can really do is pray for them. So far we have been blessed with really great teachers, and I pray that it continues.
ReplyDeleteI love this so much! I cried when I left Liam at preschool for the first time. He was just so little, and had such a limited vocabulary. I remember sitting in my car praying that he was in a safe place with a loving teacher.
ReplyDeleteI am sure I will be praying a prayer of patience over and over this year for C's teachers. He is so excited to go back, I'm worried he is too excited.
ReplyDeleteI love it. I pray for the girls teachers often because I know how hard it is to be a teacher.
