Mason got the teacher that we hoped and prayed for and we are ever so thankful. We absolutely loved Mason's first grade teacher and her loving & caring nature and wanted a 2nd grade teacher just like her. Mason does so much better with teachers that are nurturing. So, after talking to many teachers, the principal and friends we found out that Mrs. Swafford would be the best fit for Mason. We put in our request for her pretty early, or at least I felt that we did. But, we were also getting a whole new office staff for the new school year. New principal, vice principal, counselor, secretary, librarian and others. So, I was afraid our request would get lost among the shuffle. I am so glad that it didn't. This teacher has been teaching 2nd grade in our district for 32 years now. She's as sweet and patient as they come and we are looking forward to such a great year. Mrs. Swafford has taught so many people at our church and we've heard nothing but amazing things about her. It makes my heart so happy for Mason. If I can't be with him all day then I want him surrounded by amazing people that teach and love him well. His 2nd teacher that he will go to for Reading and Social Studies is also a very sweet teacher. She's so soft spoken and kind. I have faith he will love her too. While I may not be ready for a new school year I am comforted in knowing that Mason is in the hands of two amazing ladies.
And of course we couldn't miss an opportunity to see Mrs. Morgan {Mason's first grade teacher}. We have grown so close to her and love her so much. I mean...just look at these two...
They have such a sweet and special bond and it makes this mama's heart so happy! They talked a bit about Mason's haircut, summer, his new teacher and how Mason would miss her. By the end of their conversation Mrs. Morgan had tears as well as Mason's Nana and I. We are so going to miss being in her class. She poured into Mason's little heart and mind and loved him so well. She always shined the light of Jesus and never made Mason feel afraid to talk about Jesus in her classroom. I'm thankful that God put this special lady in our lives and that she and I still talk almost every single day. First Grade and Mrs. Morgan will always hold such a special place in our hearts.
We also visited a couple other first grade teachers that we loved, Mason's art teacher, the computer lab teacher and his PE coaches before we left.
Then we all went out to dinner at a local favorite. After supper we grabbed a few family selfies. I look at these pictures and just cry. I am so thankful for these two people and my life with them. God is so good!
Sweet boy!! He is going to have such a great year!
ReplyDeleteSo glad he got the teacher you wanted for him! Our packets are mailed home today and I hope Sadie gets a good teacher - eeek Kindergarten!
ReplyDeleteAww, I wish our school did this! For kinder we didn't even get to go into the classroom. The kids lined up and the teacher came out got the kids and they walked into the building. So hard! I think 1st will be the same, except we changed schools, I am a big ball of nerves!
ReplyDeleteGah. I have feelings. So many of them. David's meet and greet is Thursday but we already know and love her. It's just what it all means that's all. So glad you love Mason's teacher! That's HUGE!
ReplyDeleteSo excited for him to have the teacher you were hoping and praying for. I know that must be a huge blessing and a relief as well.
ReplyDeleteAwww! I think Mason is going to have another great year! His 2nd grade teacher sounds wonderful and I love that he visited other teachers too. Here's to the start of the school year.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got the teacher you wanted! We don't have a choice like that in our school, since it is small and only one teacher per grade.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness... God is good! I know you've been praying hard for the best possible outcome for Mason and the new school year. I am eager to see him thrive throughout 2nd grade.
