{Freeport Beach // Summer Vacation Day 1 Recap}

We just returned from an amazing family summer vacation to the beach! We only had 5 short days to spend at the beach, but we made the most of it and packed a lot into our days. And because of that, I am going to recap by the day. Otherwise, it would be a never-ending post. Today is day 1 of the recaps.

We left for our trip in the 8 o'clock hour on Thursday morning and after only stopping once at Bucees (because stopping at Bucees is a must) we arrived at our resort around 1:30 pm. Still plenty of day left to vacation!  Upon pulling into Blue Water RV Resort in Freeport, TX we all instantly fell in love. Just from the front of the resort, we could tell how beautiful it was! We checked in and headed for our campsite, which was right on a canal. It was so spacious and we had a private dock to fish & crab from.

After we unloaded the camper and checked out the resort we went for a dip in the beautiful pool just a few campsites down from us. The pool was huge and had so many picnic tables and lounge chairs for the guests. Each corner of the pool had a platform with about 5 inches of water that you could hang out on and in addition to steps on both ends of the pool, there was a walk-in area. On the top floor of the pool house was an entertainment room with ping pong table & foosball table, books, tables & chairs and a huge tv, men & women's bathrooms with showers and a laundry mat.

We had all worked up an appetite so we started looking at food options. It didn't take us long to agree on Kitty's Purple Cow...an old-time favorite! We have gone to this restaurant for many, many years. We were excited to go back and visit an old tradition. Service was a little slow, but island time, right?? We all enjoyed our meals.

After supper, we visited the Surfin Rita's Daiquiri's to go and took a stroll on the beach. Then we came back to the RV resort and went crabbing from our dock! It was so exciting and fun and we caught a ton of crabs. We caught several keepers, but we really didn't come prepared with a crab pot. So, we let them go. We still had fun catching them!

And then God painted the most beautiful sunset!

It was the perfect first day and so many wonderful memories were made!

While I plan to make a full vlog for our trip I did make a short little video for each day of our trip
