{Waxahachie Wednesday // A Place in Your Heart, Texas}

Waxahachie has been deemed the "movie capital of Texas" with over thirty movies filmed here and three Academy Award films.  One of those (Oscar-winning) features was "Places in the Heart" featuring Sally Field. It's because of this film that Waxahachie adopted the slogan, "Waxahachie: A Place in Your Heart, Texas."

With its historic charm and crape myrtle-lined streets, it's no wonder why Waxahachie is such a popular backdrop for commercials, videos, shows, and movies.

Waxahachie is just a short drive from the DFW metroplex and boasts a small-town Texas feel.  Waxahachie is also known as the "Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas" as well as the "Gingerbread Capital." The town is filled with beautiful red, pink, and white Crape Myrtles as well as Gingerbread style homes.

While in Waxahachie, dine and shop the historic downtown, tour the Munster Mansion, take the Hachie Hearts Trail, catch an event at Railyard Park, get fresh locally grown produce and more at the Farmer's Market, visit many of the historic museums & sites, watch a live show or a movie at the Texas Theater, and so much more.

One visit to Waxahachie and it's sure to become a place in your heart.
