{Waxahachie Wednesday // Farm Luck Soda Fountain}

Happy Waxahachie Wednesday! Today I am sharing about one of my favorite places in Waxahachie, Farm Luck Soda Fountain and Dry Goods. It's the cutest place in downtown Waxahachie!!

Farm Luck opened in 2016 and resides in the old Waxahachie Bank & Trust building. This charming place has the original penny tile floors, safe, wood floors, and safe door. The bar was built in 1930 by the Friedrich Refrigeration Company out of San Antonio, TX. When you step into Farmluck it's like stepping into a yesteryear soda fountain! The exposed bricks help it to feel like an old-fashioned diner/soda shop that had been there for years. For such a small space, the atmosphere is big! The historic feel is palatable.

So, how did Farm Luck get its name? The owners originally wanted to name it "The Farmacy" as an honor to the rich farming history in Ellis County and also as a nod to the old pharmacies where you could also get a shake/malt. However, in the state of Texas, only drug dispensaries can use the name farmacy or pharmacy. That's when the owners settled on the name "Farm Luck" - still honoring the farming history in Ellis County and Luck is a combination of their son's names (Luke and Jack). The Luck part of the name is a constant reminder of why they opened in the first place - to have family-friendly place to make memories.

Farm Luck serves lunch and dinner, consisting of sandwiches, wraps, soups, and salads. Some of the soda fountain options are chocolate egg cream, freshly squeezed lemonade, phosphates, cream sodas, old-fashioned sodas, and of course iced tea!  Drinks, shakes/malts, and sundaes are all served in Mason jars (my favorite). The desserts seem to be a town favorite from their homemade banana pudding to their huge banana splits and everything in between. But the real star of the show is their "world's smallest sundae" - a 4oz sundae with toppings of chocolate, whipped cream, and a cherry.

My go-to is the Aunt Sandy's Chicken Salad!

The back of Farm Luck boasts a vintage candy store! I love all of the nostalgic candies that they offer. I remember always getting candy cigarettes as a child and Farm Luck has those! Candy is sold by the ounce or had individual prices on the pre-packaged items. This has always been Mason's favorite part of Farm Luck!

Farm Luck is located on the Waxahachie Town Square at 109 W Franklin St. #110, Waxahachie, TX 75165. Business hours are M-S 11AM-9PM, Sunday 11AM-3PM

Fun Facts:

The county bought this building in the 1980s and it became the county clerk's office. Many customers recall getting their marriage license in the Farm Luck building!

The original safe door weighs as much as an F-150 truck!

The bar was originally a butcher counter with a refrigerated top - the first of it's kind!

The bar & mirrors were found in a barn in Poetry, TX. The mirrors had 6 layers of paint o nthem and took six months to restore.

The window bar is made from 200-year-old wood. The wood was part of the upstairs flooring from a historic building.

If you're ever in Waxahachie definitely check out Farm Luck!
