{What's Up Wednesday // January}

Joining in for the first time ever for What's Up Wednesday! And I'm writing this on the day of! Better late than never, right? I've been so tired lately and blogging has been put on the back burner. I'm wide awake at night and can't sleep, and then so tired the next day. I'm so ready for this to be a thing of the past. Anyhow, here's a look at What's Up Wednesday...

What we're eating this week:
M - Lasagna & garlic bread
T - Chicken fried steaks with mashed potatoes and gravy
W - we eat supper at church and I think we're having chicken & dumplings
T - we have a Jeep club meeting and will be eating at Big Al's restaurant, Down the Hatch
F - we have basketball practice and then bible study...we will grab fast food in between those two things
S - we have an early basketball game and then we'll be at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo all day, so it will be fried foods and eating out on this day as well
S - Spaghetti

What I'm reminiscing about...
Timehop! Oh, how I have a love/hate relationship with that app! I love to see all of the old memories we've made, but then it is so bittersweet seeing how small Mason was. Note to self...take more video because I love seeing those in my Timehop! Here is some goodness from today's Timehop...

What I'm loving...
Everything! Life. ha. But, seriously. I was just telling my co-worker yesterday that we are in a pretty sweet spot right now. Mason's behavior has been on point, no fussing at bedtime (bathtime is a different story, but you pick your battles! ha), he's doing really well in school and in basketball, etc. I'm sure as a parent you know that sometimes those can be pretty short seasons...so we are enjoying every sweet minute of it. I should also mention that we are on the other side of a major growth spurt. Before and during that spurt was not a sweet spot at all. Holy attitude, Batman!

What we've been up to...
Basketball, basketball, and more basketball! ha. And Jeep stuff. We (well, Nate and some friends) installed some new fender flares on our sister in law's Jeep recently. That was fun! Our weeks look a little like this...Monday - nothing, Tuesday - basketball practice, Wednesday - Church, Thursday - nothing, Friday - Basketball & Bible study, Saturday - Basketball, Sunday - church, grocery pick-up, lunch and spending time outside (if the weather allows).

What I'm dreading...
Hmm, I honestly cannot think of anything right now. Except maybe driving to Fort Worth on Saturday! I hate traffic and highways. I like to stay in my little bubble out here. I was just giggling this morning about what my 'traffic jams' are these days. The other day there was a cow out on the road, yesterday I had to wait on four combines to pass, and today? Chickens! About 30 chickens out in the road. This is my life and I kind of love it. Which reminds me of that time our chickens decided to ride in the truck all the way to town and then jumped out at a busy intersection!

What I'm working on...
For once I don't have any projects going on. I blame the cold and windy weather for that one. I am, however, working my way through the bible and writing blog posts.

What I'm excited about...
Church tonight, Jeep club meet tomorrow, the basketball game on Saturday, Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo on Saturday and church on Sunday. Those are just a few of my favorite things! I'm also excited about spring and summer trips we have planned! Can it be spring already??

What I'm watching/reading...
I'm not really watching anything at the moment. I am so behind on all of my favorite shows. I just haven't had time to sit and watch anything. As for reading, I am reading the bible and also Harry Potter with Mason!

What I'm listening to...
I am still listening to the Elevation Worship station on Spotify! Their songs just bring me so much hope and joy. I can't get enough! I've switched to Gateway Worship, Big Daddy Weave, Bethel, and a few others, but always come back to Elevation Worship.

What I'm wearing...
Nothing spectacular! Just the normal 'mom clothes'. Right now I'm wearing sweatpants and my hubby's tshirt. Glamorous, I know. But in my defense, I need to shower and wash my hair before church tonight, so I didn't put on real clothes this morning.

What I'm doing this weekend...
I feel like I mentioned this a few times before, but o'well. Friday night we have basketball practice for an hour and then bible study with our small group. Saturday morning we are supposed to have two games, but will probably only make it to one of them. We have tickets for the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo that day. That will be an all day/evening thing. We have a 2:00 pm rodeo time, but normally go to eat with the group afterward. This will be Nathan's 36th year to attend the rodeo, my 22, and Mason's 8th. It's a tradition!

Rodeo...circa 2012...

Oh, bless him! Sunday is church, grocery pick-up, and Superbowl festivities at Nathan's parent's house.

What I'm looking forward to next month...
Hmm, February...I don't think we really have anything planned. I'm excited to start a fresh new month, though. Is it just me, or did January feel like it had more days than just 31? Nathan and I are doing a 'question/panel' thing with our Youth Group on Valentine's day. Our Youth minister and his fiance are setting it up and asked Nathan and I to be a part of it. The students can write down anonymous questions about love, dating, relationships, etc and we will answer their questions. We're splitting between girls and guys to make it less awkward. They asked two other couples to be a part of it also. We are honored that they see the value in our marriage! I think it will be a neat thing!

What else is new...
Not a lot! We got some new test scores from Mason's school and he is officially reading at an almost 8th-grade level...in the 2nd grade. The other day we asked him if he learned anything new at school and he said, "yes ma'am, I learned some geometry today". Geometry? In the second grade? I know without a doubt I didn't do geometry in second grade. What? I just can't even fathom that. Mason is loving the Harry Potter books and also found a new book series he likes called Big Nate. He read over 100 pages within an hour. Nate is gearing up for some kayak fishing tournaments. He's still at peace with the decision he made about his job and that brings my heart so much comfort. And as for me, same ol' same ol'. I'm the mom manager and keep things in running order around here. Well, sometimes. Monday I turned on the wrong stove burner, then I burnt our supper a little, forgot to send Mason with his ice cream money on Tuesday (he looks forward to that each week - luckily he had money in his lunch account!), forgot to pay our vehicle insurance bill this month (it shows paid on my spreadsheet, though! I think I just forgot to erase that row from the month before), taught him a new slightly inappropriate saying about the weather (it just slipped out of my mouth. It's not horrible by any means, but not 7-year-old worthy either). So yeah, I'm kind of winning at this whole mom/wife thing lately.

What are you up to?
