{Weekend Wrap-up // Our Weekend of Big Milestones and Christmas Magic}

Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a great start. We had such a good weekend and it truly went by way too fast. Isn’t that always how it goes? Even when we try to slow down and stay home as much as we can, time still seems to slip right through our fingers. We have definitely been in our homebody era and loving it, but the days still move quickly. This weekend was a good mix of going out and staying home. Anyhow, here’s a look at what our weekend looked like.

Friday

I woke up early and studied Luke 1:2 before getting my day started. I worked on Friday while Nate and Mason headed about an hour and fifteen minutes east for something really exciting. It was one of those bittersweet mom moments for me, and one of the most exciting days ever for Mason. He got his driver’s permit. My mama heart still cannot believe my baby boy is old enough for this. He was absolutely ecstatic and immediately ready to hit the road. Nate let him drive the entire hour and fifteen minutes home, highway and all. His very first time out on the open road. Nate said he did amazing and handled it like he’d been driving for months. I still cannot get over it.

That evening, Nate and Mason went to his high school hockey practice. Nate said Mason had an awesome skate and looked really strong out there. I love hearing updates from the rink and seeing how proud Nate is of him.

While they were at practice, I went to a painting event at a local greenery with my mother in law. They had several painting options to choose from, along with charcuterie boards, wine, and sparkling juices. The atmosphere was so cozy and beautiful... plants everywhere, soft lights, and that peaceful greenhouse feeling. The paint by numbers I picked was super intricate with tiny little lines everywhere. It took forever, but in the best way. They let us take the paints and brushes home to finish, so I’ve been working on mine here and there and hope to finish it this week.

Saturday

We slept in until 9, which felt amazing, never mind that I was up from 3 to 4:30 for no good reason. Thankfully I managed to fall back asleep for a few more hours. Once we got up, I made sausage gravy and biscuits for breakfast, and then Nate headed outside to start working on our Christmas lights. He’s such a good man. I didn’t ask, he just jumped right in and started hanging lights for me, choosing that over college football. I helped him whenever he needed an extra set of hands, and in between I decorated the front porch and played with Sadie girl. She was living her best life in the middle of all the Christmas decor. She is just the cutest little thing.

After we wrapped up outside, I made a quick trip to town to grab a few things I needed for some craft projects I had planned.

That evening, Nate and Mason headed to the Dallas Stars game. I stayed home in my Christmas pajamas and crafted to my heart’s content. It was the coziest night... dried citrus garlands, gingerbread houses for a garland, candy canes for another garland, painting a picture frame, and Christmas movies playing in the background. Truly my kind of night.

Nate and Mason had the best time at the Stars game and said it was a really good one. My mom won the tickets through her job and they were such great seats. The Stars were playing Mason’s second favorite team, so it worked out perfectly. I won’t drive to downtown Dallas by myself, so sending them with the tickets made the most sense, and I am glad they had such a fun boys’ night.

Sunday

Sunday morning we hit the early service at church, but not before running through 7 Brew. That has quickly become our little Sunday tradition and I kind of hope it never changes.

My hair is not that red! lol. We had a red light over us at church.

After church, we came home to gather a few things Mason needed for his hockey game, then picked up Nate’s parents and drove an hour north for the game. We had five very generous sponsors gift all four teams these track suits. This was the first time our kids got to wear them. They are so nice!!

The game was a tough one and the kids lost in overtime. They were all so disappointed. Those close games are always the hardest to walk away from. Mason played really well and had a few solid shots on goal. We were proud of him, as always. After the game we stopped at Mason’s favorite place, Chili’s, for dinner before heading back home. Once we got in, we took care of the animals, showered, and called it an early night. We were exhausted in the best way.

And that’s a wrap on our weekend. It was simple, cozy, busy, and full of the people and moments that matter most. I am grateful for every one of them. Now here we are at the start of a new week and I am praying it is a good one for all of us. How was your weekend?

Linking up with Holly and Sarah for Hello Monday.
