I’ve been seeing so many adorable Bible DIYs floating around TikTok lately, and they’ve completely inspired me to add a little extra sweetness to mine. I’ve always loved making my own bookmarks for my Bible, but recently I’ve been wanting to do something a bit more. I think part of it is because our Bibles are so much more than just books… they’re living and active, the very Word of God. And for me, making them personal and beautiful is another way of honoring the time I spend in them.
A lot of the videos I watched showed people adding fringe to the inside covers of their Bibles. It looked so cute and unique! But then I noticed that some of those creators came back and said that, over time, the fringe would get caught on things or start to look a little ratty. I wanted something with that same special touch but maybe a little more subtle and durable. That’s when the idea of lace popped into my mind. Simple, pretty, timeless.
So off to Hobby Lobby I went, wandering the aisles in search of the perfect trim. (Raise your hand if you get easily lost in Hobby Lobby because everything is so cute!) I ended up finding this gorgeous ivory lace trim, and as soon as I held it up, I knew it was “the one.” My Bible has a rose-gold leather cover, and I thought the ivory lace would compliment it beautifully without overpowering it.
Here’s what I did:
-
I measured how much lace I would need for each side of the inside cover and carefully cut the trim.
-
Then I pulled out my trusty hot glue gun (every crafter’s best friend!) and glued the lace into the inside cover.
-
I placed it so that just a little bit of the lace peeks out from the edges of the Bible. That way it’s subtle but still adds that touch of delicate beauty.
Y’all… I love how it turned out. It was super simple, it didn’t take me long at all, and now every time I open my Bible, I smile just a little bit bigger. It feels special and personal, like I added my own creative fingerprint to the book I treasure most.
If you’d like to make one for yourself, here’s what you’ll need:
-
Your Bible
-
Trim of your choice (lace, ribbon, fringe, etc.)
-
Scissors
-
Hot glue gun & glue sticks
And because Hobby Lobby always tempts me with extras, I also found the sweetest little felt bows while I was there. I instantly thought, “Bookmarks!” And sure enough, they are precious tucked into the pages of my Bible.
But beyond just the cuteness of it, I was reminded while doing this project of how personal our walk with the Lord really is. We each approach His Word with our own experiences, prayers, and hopes. Adding something like lace or bows might seem small, but it’s a little reminder that God delights in the details. He cares about the small things that bring us joy, even in something like crafting.
So if you’ve been looking for a fun, meaningful, and super simple way to personalize your Bible, I highly recommend giving this a try. It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive. Just something that makes your Bible feel like yours.
Have you ever done any Bible DIYs? I would absolutely love to hear about them and see pictures if you have! We can inspire each other with new ways to make the Word of God a little more personal, a little more inviting, and a little more reflective of the joy we find in Him.
Because at the end of the day, no matter how we decorate the outside, it’s the words on the inside that matter most… the truth that changes us from the inside out.
