Hi friends, and welcome back to another From the Front Porch reflection.
There’s something about this time of year that makes home feel especially sacred. The air outside has that cozy chill, the twinkle lights are starting to make their appearance, and the scent of something warm and comforting seems to linger in the air. It’s the kind of season that draws you in, where the world slows down just enough to remind you of the beauty right in front of you.
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the sacredness of home. Not just the walls and roof that keep us sheltered, but the heart within it...the laughter, the prayers, the small daily rhythms that quietly honor God. Home is where faith gets lived out in real time...in the burnt dinners, the after-school chaos, the quiet prayers whispered over coffee, and the forgiveness exchanged around the table.
It’s easy to think of sacred spaces as churches or mountaintops, but I’ve found that some of the holiest moments happen right here...on the front porch, in the kitchen, or even folded into the soft hum of an ordinary day. God doesn’t just meet us in the grand or the gathered... He meets us in the everyday.
He’s in the sunrise you watch from the porch before the world wakes up.
He’s in the hands that prepare dinner for the people you love.
He’s in the gentle rhythm of folding laundry, cleaning dishes, or tucking someone in at night.
He’s in the laughter echoing through the living room and in the quiet, sacred moments when you’re simply still.
This house. this home, becomes holy ground when we choose to see it that way. It’s not about perfection. It’s about presence. When we invite God into our ordinary, He turns it into something extraordinary.
So whether you’re rocking on the porch with a warm drink, cooking dinner while worship music plays softly in the background, or gathering around the table with your people, may you be reminded that God is right there. In the stillness. In the noise. In the laughter. In the mess.
Home isn’t just where we live, it’s where we meet Him.
Scripture:
"Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it." — Genesis 28:16
This week, take a moment to notice how God is showing up in your home. Light a candle, whisper a prayer of gratitude, and let His peace fill your space. Because even the simplest corners of our homes can become sacred when our hearts are set on Him.
