Have you ever had a moment where you’re just going through the motions, caught up in your own little world, lost in your phone, and then…bam…something pulls your eyes up and your heart right back to Jesus?
That was this entire road trip for me.
From Texas to Colorado and all the miles in between, I experienced so many little God winks. You know the kind…those sweet, personal reminders that He sees you, He’s with you, and He’s never far.
I’d be scrolling my phone when something would tug at me to look up. And every single time, what I saw stopped me in my tracks and left me whispering, Thank you Jesus.
There was the giant cross hanging from a crane, right in the middle of a construction zone... completely unexpected and completely divine. And not long after, three crosses standing strong on the side of the road. No fanfare, just quietly declaring truth to anyone paying attention.
One of my favorite moments was passing a man painting Jesus on a massive billboard right outside a church with the word Emmanuel across the front. God with us. Yes. Right there on the roadside, in the middle of nowhere, I was reminded of the greatest truth of all...we are never alone.
Then came the light pole. Sounds silly, but I glanced in my rear view mirror and saw it...a pole perfectly shaped like a cross, framed just right as the sky turned golden behind it. Tears welled up in my eyes. Even in the small things, He’s showing up.
Little white chapels seemed to pop up out of nowhere...nestled in fields, sitting peacefully near the road, standing tall against mountain backdrops. Each one felt like a whisper: I am here.
And then there was the tree. High up on a mountain, one lone tree stood tall, its branches forming the unmistakable shape of a cross. I don’t even know how to describe the feeling...it was like God planted that tree just for me, just for that moment, just to say I see you, daughter.
Y’all, I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe in a loving God who delights in the details...who knows when to tug our chin upward and remind us He’s not only in the big, beautiful mountains, but in the small surprises too.
So today I just want to say…
Thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus.
For every cross, every chapel, every wink from heaven.
For being Emmanuel — God with us — on every mile of this journey.
