{Five on Friday // Storms, Mason & Diesel, Art Gala}

Happy Friday!! This week was fairly uneventful for us. We didn't do much besides church on Wednesday and an Art Gala at Mason's school on Thursday. Other than that we were just at home. Oh, I gave up all diet sodas a week ago on Thursday. I started having some health concerns and decided I was done with soda. I've had nothing but water and a couple of sweet teas since. I feel so much better and can definitely tell a difference. And I tried sushi for the first time. It was a fried roll with avocado, jalepeno, cream cheese and crab. This is big for me because I eat ZERO seafood and I am not adventurous when it comes to food. So, maybe it was kind of an eventful week for me. Mason had a couple of rough days at school, so that was a bummer. One lunch lady keeps putting the entire cafeteria on "no talk lunches" and if you know my son then you know he doesn't do 'no talking" very well. He said, "Mom, I can't not talk. It makes my brain hurt." I totally get it, buddy. I do. That was Monday and Tuesday, the rest of the week was better for him. Tonight is bible study and we are looking forward to that. Here's a look at our week...

{O N E} Posts from the week...

Monday // This Past Weekend
Tuesday // Easter 2017
Wednesday // I took a day off blogging. I had a photo session to edit and a couple of shirts to make.
Thursday // Five Things that are bringing me joy right now

{T W O} Rainstorms & Skies

We had a couple of rainstorms pass through this week. The sky before the storms was dark and scary. But the sky after the storms? Glorious! We even saw a couple of rainbows this week.

I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
- Genesis 9:13 (NIV)

I love the sky in the spring time and especially after a storm. Fun fact; I am terrified of storms when tornadoes are involved. Like, I get anxiety so bad that it makes me sick. But, I love a good rainstorm. The rainbow photos were looking out the front door and the orange were out the backdoor. The last two photos were a different storm.

{T H R E E} 13 Reasons Why

I started reading the book Thirteen Reasons Why this week and it's so good! I wanted to read the book before I watched the series. I'm weird like that, I guess. I've heard so many great things about the show, so I am looking forward to it. Have you read the book or watched the series? Fun fact; my cousins {Selena G and her Mama, Mandy} produced the show.

{F O U R} Diesel and Mason

We were driving home from school on Thursday and Mason was holding Diesel in the backseat. He said, "Hey mom take a picture of Diesel and I, the two brothers," Oh how I was tempted because he never ever lets me take pictures, but had to decline since I was driving and all. I asked him if we could do it when we got home and he obliged. I was sure that he would change his mind once we got home so I didn't have my hopes up. But, he totally let me take some pictures. And because I included a fun fact in the last two things I shared, here's one for this one. Diesel LOATHES pictures. He will not look at a camera or a phone for anything. You have to yell and do all kinds of silly things to get his attention. And even then you better be quick because he looks away in a flash! These two are so hard to take pictures of!

{F I V E} Art Gala

Mason had an art gala at his school last night and it was so cute! Each student at Mason's school had 2 pieces of artwork on display. He has 550+ students at his school {only 1st through 3rd grade there} so there was a ton to look at. Fun fact; Mason's art teacher is the granddaughter of Neil Armstrong. Mason also got to show his grandparents his picture on the wall for being the top reader in first grade! He was proud of that.

{B O N U S} Easy like a Sunday morning

Nate worked overtime today and he decided to go in a little later than normal. He usually leaves the house at 5:15am for work, but he wanted to be able to take Mason to school first. I got to have an easy morning and it was a welcome changed! I only had to brush my teeth, help Mason get ready, make his lunch for a field trip and see them off! I love my role as a mother and doing all the things, but a small break every once in a while is welcomed and refreshing!

Today Mason is going on a field trip to see a movie for Earth Day. The theater is about 35-40 minutes from his school. This is the first field trip that I have not been able to go to and I am stressing about it a bit. They didn't have enough tickets to offer to parents. I am such a helicopter mom when it comes to things like riding on buses and crossing parking lots without my eyes on him! Praying and focusing on these scriptures something fierce today. I know that when my eyes cannot be on Mason that the Lord's eyes and hand always are!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
- Phillipians 4:6 (ESV)

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
- John 14:27

Happy weekend, friends! I hope you have a good one!

  4. So many fun facts! lol. I love that Diesel hates photos. That's too funny. I love your rainbow pics! I'm dying to see a rainbow any time soon. It's been so long for me. Sorry to hear about the no talk lunches - that's gotta be hard for kids! I love sushi! I read 13 Reasons Why and I didn't like it. I thought it sort of showed suicide as a way out or something to glorify...I probably read into it too far though.

  8. You got some really beautiful pics of the sky! I am the same way when it comes to wanting to read the books first. I connect to the story better that way but then the movie or show usually lets me down because i have my own idea how it should be! Loved all the fun facts btw!
