{The Daily Dime // A Day in the Life Summer 2017}

Time for another round of The Daily Dime - A Day in the Life. I really enjoyed writing this post last month and think these posts will be fun to look back on at a later time. It's amazing how much a day in our lives can change depending on the season or time of year. Here is a look at a day in our life...

A few notes:
Date - Sunday, 7/09/2017
The Sunday after a 10 day vacation.
Our first day back to church after vacation
Mason is still out for summer break.
All photos taken with iPhone 7 Plus

7:46 am |  Lexi starts whining for me to go and get her out of the kennel. Very impressive considering that she spent 9 days at doggie daycare. She slept all night her first night back home! We were worried we would lose the progress we made with her before we left for vacation. But, she has proven to us that she didn't. She still remembers all of her commands and slept like a champ. I take her outside, love on her and then feed her.

8:12 am | While Lexi is eating I gather all of my things to start a bible study. This morning it was the book of Acts as I was reading the lesson we would be discussing in Sunday school. Once I finish the study I catch up on a little Netflix. It was still too early to wake up the boys...or so I though! I must have been in a vacation hangover fog because I thought we didn't need to leave the house until 10:0, but at 9:10 I realized Sunday school started at 9:30 {but usually closer to 9:45}. We had to rush to get ready! Mason was in the worst mood and didn't want to wake up. He requires so much time to wake up and get ready for the day. I felt bad for making such a crazy mistake. We managed to make it to church at 9:42! Mason's class hadn't started and ours had barely begun! Whew!!

11:36 am | In the middle of church service I realize that I didn't snap a picture when we got to church, so I snuck one really quick. Sunday school was great and the sermon was amazing as well. We are in 1 John and today's lesson was about love and where it comes from. God is love. It was so good to see our Church Family since we had been gone on vacation! So many of them told me they were ready to make a trip to Ruidoso after seeing my pictures on Facebook! And I am ready to go right back with them! This Texas heat and humidity are smothering!!

12:58 pm | The group chose Denny's for lunch. I was excited because I love breakfast foods, but it ended up being a total nightmare. We had 13 in our group and our poor waiter couldn't get it together for anything. He dropped a whole tray of sweet tea's, cokes and milk over Nathan's head and in my purse {it was hanging on the chair closest to Nate}. Nate was soaked!! They gave him a shirt so that he could change out of his cold and sticky shirt. Everything in my purse was wet and sticky as well! And then to top it off...everyone's orders got messed up, food was cold and some food was never brought out. I felt bad for the poor waiter! As one of my friends said, 'it was a good chance for us to show grace!' And most of us did. They ended up comping Nate's meal, which was so kind. Mason went home with our friends after lunch to spend the night. Nathan and I didn't know what to do. It's rare that we have most of the day and evening to ourselves! We came home and did a few things around the house before we said forget it...let's get out of the house!

3:16 pm | We stopped at Sonic to grab a drink since we never got more than one water when we were at Denny's. We were both so thirsty! Then we went to Academy to walk around. Nate found a new hat and we got an outfit for Mason. I had posted a picture on my Insta stories from Academy and some friends of ours commented saying they were just there too. So we texted back and forth for a bit and decided to meet up. We were at Home Depot at that point so they met us there. It was so good for my heart to see them and their precious little girls.

3:16 pm Then we went to supper at a delicious Mexican food place in our town. Nathan and I weren't starving, but we missed our friends and wanted to spend some time with them. Nathan and I shared a nachos and didn't put much of a dent into them. We had a nice time and got to chat so much. We can't wait to get together again!

7:17/7:19 pm After supper we went back home. My friends swung by to pick up Mason's clothes and stuff. Then I started watching a bit of The Ranch on Netflix. It popped up as a show I may like so I started watching it. It's pretty funny! Nate put out some weed-killer that we picked up at Home Depot.

8:16 pm Nate saw an orange glow reflecting off the house so he thought it must be a good sunset. We ran out to see it and brought the pups. Nate threw the tennis ball for both of them several times and I took videos and pictures. It was a pretty sunset, but we couldn't get a good picture from our backyard.

8:18 pm I couldn't pass up an opportunity to take a picture with my sweet man! This day/evening with him was so special. Nathan and I both tried to talk Mason into staying home with us...not because we didn't want him spending the night with our friends, but because we both like having him with us. However, it ended up being such a blessing to us. Nathan and I got to date and it was so lovely! We had adult conversations and just got to spend some meaningful time together. After watching the sunset and playing with the pups we came in to shower and get ready for bed.

This is pretty close to a typical Sunday for us. We usually go out to eat with Church friends and then either hang out or go to the lake for Sunday Funday. The day date was pretty rare, though. Mason doesn't typically spend the night with people on Sundays.

What does a day in your life look like?

  1. That first day after vacation is usually so hard but your Sunday didn't look to bad at all. I LOVE that you added the times to the photos. I may have to try that approach next month. Genius friend.

  3. I have been so neglectful of my Bible study this Summer. Our days are so full and we start the moment we get up so it's been pushed back. I really need to kick the excuses to the curb and MAKE TIME for the Word.

  6. What a nice change! Adult only time right? So annoying about the Denny's visit wow! I'm sort of surprised they didn't comp the entire meal!

  7. Oh my gosh, what a mess at Denny's! I agree, they should have comped all your food for it being cold and dumping drinks all over. That poor waiter was having a bad day.
Sounds like you guys ended with a fun night though!

  10. I love this post. I definitely want to link up next time! I love that you and Nate got to have a day date. There's something so special about that. Alex an dI always miss Dylan when he's not with us but it does feel like dating all over again. Usually we end up at Academy, too but it's okay because we both enjoy it, mostly spending the time together.
