{Five on Friday // Bible, Farmluck, Snow Cones, Dieting}

Happy Friday! It has been almost a month since I have written a Five on Friday post. Y'all...it has been so dang busy around these parts! First was vacation {gone for 10 days}, then I came back to the Photobucket fiasco {I've already updated 136 blog posts and counting}, trying to catch up on Bible studies {personal, study with my girlfriends, Wednesday nights at church, and Sunday school}, going through the 1400+ photos I took while on vacation, trying to get the house back in order, etc. And then this week Nate's Step Grandfather was taken by ambulance to the hospital for low oxygen levels, Nathan had jury duty all week, my sister lost her father in law, and a family friend's 11 year old was diagnosed with the mumps. His family went on vacation with us and the kid and Mason played together a lot. I had to contact Mason's doctor to see if she wanted him to come in. But, he's fully vaccinated and the incubation period would have been towards the end of our vacay {and the kid left 2 days before us} so we should be in the clear. Whew! Other than all  of that, life has been pretty dang grand over here. Nathan and I have had a bunch of unexpected date nights {Praise Jesus, Hallelujah} and we've had a ton of family time. We are trying to soak up every last drop of summer and making so many memories. We hope to squeeze in a few more little adventures before school starts back. One of these days I will be able to answer emails and  I will blog about our vacation and all of the other little things we have done! But for today it's a Five on Friday...a little bit of what we've been up to this week.

{O N E} Bible meets washi tape

I had to take a much needed break from updating blog posts {all the broken photobucket links - had to figure out which pictures they were, find them on my hardrive and then update the blog posts by manually inserting the pictures} so I washi taped my journaling Bible. It was a gift from my mother in law a couple of Christmases ago and I love it so. But, it needed some color. So I pulled out my washi tape and got busy! I taped the edge of every 5th page changing tape when I started a new book of the Bible. It was time consuming, but oh so worth it. It looks so pretty and colorful now.

I have T H I S journaling bible and just used various washi tapes I had on hand.

{T W O} Farmluck

Oh how we love Farmluck! I've mentioned it on the blog several times before, but it's our soda fountain on the town square. It's decorated in farmhouse everything and makes my heart so happy! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is great and they have one of the best Texas Country playlists. We recently had a family date there and we had such an amazing time. I can't not take pictures when there...it's just so cute! In the back of Farmluck they have their "dry goods" store where they sell the cutest t-shirts, bottled sodas, and old time candy. Mason loves it!

{T H R E E} Lexi in the morning

So, we somehow managed to get a dream dog. She goes to sleep between 9-10 pm {unless its the weekend and we are up} and does not make a sound until she hears my alarm go off. I take her straight outside and she cuddles with me and gives me kisses before she goes to do her business. She's the absolute sweetest and I am 100% in love and obsessed with her. That time in the morning when it's just me and her is just so sweet and precious. She climbs in my lap and just leans in to me. Mercy, I love her.

{F O U R} Snow-cone truck at church

Our church rented a Kona Ice Snow-cone truck for our Wednesday night services as a treat. We had the truck for one hour and after supper everyone got to make their own snow-cone. Well, they provided the cups with ice and we got to choose our flavors and mix to our hearts desire. Mason went for blue coconut, banana and pina colada. I got a banana and blue coconut. They were so delicious and the perfect way to combat the Texas heat. The lady inside the truck saw me taking pictures of Mason and said, "honey give me your phone so I can take one of the both of you!" I'm so glad she did. Nate didn't get to join us because he got held up in jury duty. Such a bummer.

{F I V E} Diet

Around somewhere in the middle of our vacation I realized that I need to go on a serious diet. I knew it would be close to impossible during that week so I vowed to start once we got back. And that I did. We got back on Friday, July 8th and I started my diet on Saturday, July 9th. I am cutting out carbs since that seems to be the only thing that works for me. I didn't weigh myself before so I am not really keeping up with weight loss, but by inches lost. And that I have done! I'm almost three weeks in and pretty confident that I have lost several inches all over. My clothes are fitting a lot different and my body is starting to look different as well. Yes, I realize that I'm talking about dieting and eating snow cones all in the same post! However, the snow cone was sugar free and very low in carbs and I saved all of my carbs for that day for the snowcone. It was worth it. I can't wait to see where this journey takes me. I did the low carb diet years before Mason and lost 45 lbs and kept it off for 6+ years.

I can usually start telling a difference in my face. Today Mason and I took a picture and I noticed that my face was looking slimmer. So, I found a similar picture to compare. These are a little less than a month apart. Not a huge difference, but a difference nonetheless. Small victories!!

Left is from June // Right from today

And that's a little bit of what we have been up to. We've got a pretty full weekend with several birthday celebrations, but I can't wait to see family. What are you up to this weekend?

  1. Wow! So much in one post. Love what you've done to your journaling bible. So cool!! Those snow cone sound so yummy. There's a snow cone place in a nearby town and our neighbor girls are obsessed with it. I told them we'd take them this weekend. Thy are pumped. And my kids have never had them so I'm excited. Lexi is the sweetest thing. Omg I want to squeeze her. Such a sweet girl. Have a great weekend!!

  3. Way to go girl! I can always tell in my face too! I am trying to watch what I eat too but then something comes up or my kids want ice cream and it's hard not to want a scoop too. Last night I had basically a spoonful ;). I have been drinking lime in my water too to help get more water in my diet and less pop. It's working for the most part but yesterday was a MUST pop day! How fun to have a shaved ice truck at church, it came to our neighborhood once and it was so fun! You have had a wild couple of weeks. I hope it calms down and everyone is feeling better soon! xoxo ERIN

  8. Those Lexi pictures just melt me. She looks like she gives the best snuggles. And how sweet of the snow cone lady to offer to take your picture. There's never enough pictures with mom actually in the shot. Good luck with your diet! I can definitely see a difference in those side by side shots.

  9. I love your Five on Friday posts. Your journaling Bible has me wishing for one of my own now. I love the washi tape you added to it! I also love your little Lexi. She sounds like a dream pup like Willow. How sweet that she snuggles with you before she does her business. Farmluck sounds like my kind of place. It reminds me of our sweet little Farmer's Table. Oh how I wish I could have that honey club wrap though!

Mason has gotten to big! I love that the lady working the Kona truck stopped and took a picture of you and Mason. Too often it's us mamas behind the lens. Congrats lady on loosing weight! Of course you look gorgeous no matter what but I understand the struggle because I'm right there with you!

I hope the rest of your summer treats you this good! Xo.
