{Born Country}

When I posted about our Oklahoma Trip the other day I made a slideshow to the song
 "Born Country" by Alabama.
Each time I listened to the song it made me more and more Thankful.
Thankful that Mason was "born" country and will grow up country.

He will never have to live the city life that Nate and I did growing up.
He doesn't have to face the hustle and bustle, the gangs, the crime,
the dirty restaurants and unfriendly people,
and the over-crowded unsafe public schools.

Instead he will grow up knowing the small town life.
Where everyone waves as they pass.
Neighbors swap vegetables and fruits from their gardens.
Tractor rides until sun-down are an almost every day thing.
Collecting fresh eggs from the chickens.
Suppers on the porch.
Cowboy hats and boots.
Barns and stars.
Sweet tea in a Mason jar.
FFA and 4-H.
Pickin' fresh vegetables from the Garden.
Bonfires.
Walking the Donkey.
Texas Country music and guitars.
Backroads and fishin' holes.
 Farmer's tans.

God bless the country...and Texas!!

  1. I love this post. Those things are all things we considered when we moved where we did. It has its downsides like being 1.5 hours from a hobby lobby or super Walmart, but I manage. What area do yall live in now if you don't mind me asking. Thank you for linking up!

  2. Love it!!!! :) Even though we are not in Texas, that's the way we live in South Carolina. We live in a very small town where everyone knows everybody or somehow they are kin. I could never imagine living in a city. Never. I never have. I live 10 minutes from where I was raised and would not change it for nothing. Michael grew up like I did. He is from a town 3 hours away, but nothing of city folk. We would not manage. God Bless us country folks!!!

  4. I am so very, very much in love with this post! I grew up this way, and we're trying to raise M this way also. A lot of people don't understand why we'd want to raise our child in such a small town, but I loved growing up in one, and I wouldn't have had it any other way. I love that M was "born country"!

Thanks so much for linking up with us!

  6. Hey fellow Texas Blogger!! Great to meet you and see your cutie patootie!! Love your post... the country life is a good one-- I"m on the fence about country living b/c all I've known is the city but I think its mainly b/c of my addiction to places like Target and Hobby Lobby that I feel this huge pull from to be close. :) New follower! Hugs!
