{Ice Ice Baby // 2023}

We finally got an ice day!! I mean...days...this is Texas after all! Nate is part of the de-ice crew at work which means that he goes in before it gets bad and then sleeps over at work (working around the clock) until it's all cleared up. This storm was nothing like the Great Snowpocalpse of 2021!!! Mason and I hunkered down at home for a few days while Nate was gone.  I only got the Jeep out once for pictures and then we stayed nice and toasty inside!

 Texas got another February snow & ice storm! While we were anticipating the worst, it wasn't nearly as bad as last year. We at least kept our electricity this time, and temperatures didn't drop quite as drastically. 

{Valentine's Day // 2021}

 Valentine's Day looked a lot different this year...and for once I am not talking about Covid! It just happened to fall right around the time Texas was expecting the biggest snow/winter storm we have had in years. It was also different because it was just Mase and me at home. Nate had to go into work the night before (and sleep over) to prepare the plant for the storm (more on that later).

 I always take video footage of any trip and compile them into a video for memory's sake! I love having these videos to look back on. Our time in New Mexico was so special to us. 

{NEW MEXICO TO TEXAS // DAY 6}

Today wraps up my last and final New Mexico trip post. In true Crystal fashion, it's 2.5 months overdue. But hey, better late than never. We woke up and slowly packed all of our things to begin the trek home. We didn't really have time that we needed to be out of the cabin, so we didn't rush. In our hearts, none of us wanted to leave this dreamy place. It was one of those trips that you dream about, or see only in the movies. We loved every single minute of it. 

{New Mexico Trip // Day 5 // Winter Wonderland, Steam}

 On our fifth day at the cabin, we woke up to the most beautiful Winter Wonderland!! There were several more inches of snow all the way around the cabin!! And all of the trees were covered. It was the most beautiful sight!!! There is just something so magical about snow in the mountains. I felt like I was living inside of a real-life snowglobe!!! Or a Hallmark movie. 

{A Texas snow day // 2020}

 IT SNOWED!!!! It freakin' snowed in Texas. Sure, we knew there was a chance, but when you live in the Lonestar State that chance is more like a  'haha fat chance' type of thing. Texas is a really big tease if you didn't know. We woke up to a light drizzle but saw the temps were going to drop and that drizzle would turn to snow. Still, it was an "I'll believe it when I see it" kind of morning! Not too much later, Keri texted me and said that they were getting snow at their house only about 25 minutes away! This is when I started getting excited! A bit after that, Keri texted me again and said she was getting snow in town. Her work is only about 8-10 minutes from my house. This is the point where I started checking out the door every five minutes! I'm sure my behavior echoed that of a child on Christmas morning! There is just something so magical about a snowfall (especially in Texas) and I pray that is never lost on me. Finally, a very light snowfall started. Nate and I had a couple of errands we needed to run and decided to do it early just in case the roads got bad. Again, we live in Texas and all we know is ice. We took the Jeep and I asked Nate if we could get some pictures of it in the snow before we got home. Of course, he is amazing and obliged! We drove down to our private lake to capture some photos. 

{Snow Day // Jan 16, 2018}

On Tuesday of this week we got to enjoy a nice snow day at home! Monday was a holiday, so it ended up being a super extended weekend. They were quick to call school around 9:30 the night before. We laughed and were thinking how they would never do that when we were kids. We had to wait until like 7:00 - 7:30 the next morning to find out. They would wait until the very last minute, so you had to get ready just in case they didn't call it. It also makes us laugh how quick Texas shuts down on snow days! But, an extra day at home? We'll take it!

{Another snow day in Texas}

Texas weather is so wild this year! It's March and almost Spring Break and we are getting inches of snow. Just crazaay! The only good part about this snow storm is that we have sunshine! We haven't seen the sun in over a week. Oh how I missed it.

{Texas Snow....Ice Day}

Yay for Texas ice snow days!! Mason's school closed for the day and Nate works too far to attempt to drive in the ice. And well, Texas pretty much shuts down when it ices. 

But, I am not complaining because I got another day with my boys! And it really was a great day. We hung out in our jammies and were lazy most of the day! We played and talked and I worked. That's the only bad part about working at home...I don't get snow days! But again, not complaining. 

Once it hit 4:00 we bundled up and went outside to play! Brrr!!! It was so cold! But Mason and Gunner loved it and it was fun to watch them play!






It looks like we may get more this week! And maybe even some actual snow, too.

{Snow...in Texas...in November}

Good morning and Happy Monday!

You had to know this post was coming. It's Texas and even if it was just a 'dusting' it was SNOW!!!

Last night I was lying in bed and both of my boys had drifted off to a sweet slumber...I couldn't sleep so I was perusing FB. I kept seeing people all around us posting about snow. I was sad that Mason was asleep and missing it. I was so warm and cozy in bed with my boys that I wasn't going to get up and look. But, then I started hearing it come down and thought I better get up and get a picture. This is Texas and there's a big fat chance it could all be gone in the morning. The least I could do was capture a few pictures for Mason to see. 

So I tiptoed out of the room and took a few! I couldn't believe how much had already been covered.

The next morning I was pleased to see there was still snow for Mason to see. Plus, come'on...it was a surefire way that Mason wouldn't wake up so grumpy...it's Monday after all. Waking up to snow is sure to crush the Monday woes and blues! 

I carried him to the back door and he has such sensitive {and sleepy eyes} that he couldn't look right then. He said it was too bright! So we continued to get ready and then he was able to see it!

He was excited. He said, "Do you think we can go out and play in it at school?" and "Will it be here when we get home?" :)
