{Thrifted Thursday // Top 5 Things I Always Hunt for }

If you’ve been around here long, you know that thrifting is one of my very favorite pastimes. Some days you leave empty-handed, but other days? You walk out with armfuls of goodies that make your heart sing.

Over the years, I’ve noticed that there are a few categories I always gravitate toward when thrifting. These are the things that bring me the most joy, have proven to be the best deals, and add that perfect touch of charm to my home and wardrobe.

Vintage Books:

Old books just speak to me. Whether it’s a weathered Bible, a children’s classic with doodles inside, or a stack of Reader’s Digests with colorful spines, vintage books add instant charm. I love stacking them on shelves, using them in seasonal dĂ©cor, or simply admiring the stories they hold. Plus, they often cost less than a dollar...such a win!

Unique Frames and Wall Art:

Frames are one of the easiest and most versatile thrift finds. I keep an eye out for solid wood frames or anything with character. Even if the art inside isn’t my style, the frame itself can be repurposed for family photos, seasonal prints, or DIY projects. And sometimes, the art surprises you...it might be quirky, sentimental, or just perfect for a gallery wall.

Dishes & Kitchenware:

Give me all the mason jars, Pyrex, and patterned plates! I can’t resist browsing the kitchen section. There’s something nostalgic about finding pieces that remind me of my grandma’s kitchen or discovering unique dishes to mix into my everyday table settings. Seasonal plates or quirky mugs also make the best little gifts.

Cozy Sweaters & Jackets:

Clothing sections can feel overwhelming, but I always peek through the sweaters and outerwear. Thrifted sweaters are some of my favorites for fall...soft, cozy, and often vintage quality you just can’t find anymore. A good denim jacket or flannel shirt has also made its way into my cart more than once!

Seasonal & Holiday Decor:

This one might be my weakness. From pumpkins to Christmas villages, thrift stores are goldmines for holiday treasures. I love mixing thrifted dĂ©cor with pieces I already own...it makes decorating feel more personal and unique. Plus, it’s way more budget-friendly than buying everything new.

Why I love the Hunt:

For me, thrifting is less about the stuff and more about the stories. Each find feels like a little piece of history that gets to live on in our home. It’s a practice in patience, creativity, and gratitude, and it always reminds me that beauty doesn’t have to come with a big price tag.

So the next time you’re out thrifting, keep an eye out for these categories. Who knows? You might just find your own favorite treasures.
