Hey y’all... welcome back to another Waxahachie Wednesday! I love this series so much because it gives me the chance to highlight some of my favorite things about our little hometown, and this week, it’s all about the spooky season!
If you’re looking for something fun, family-friendly, or even a little frightful to do this October, Waxahachie has you covered. From haunted houses to trunk-or-treats to pumpkin-filled festivals, there’s something for everyone in the mix. So grab your pumpkin spice latte, your favorite cozy sweater, and let’s take a little tour through all the fall fun happening around town this Halloween season.
Scarborough’s Hollow Fall Fantasy Festival
One of the newest and most exciting additions this year is Scarborough’s Hollow , a fall festival brought to life by the folks behind the Scarborough Renaissance Festival. It runs from October 11 through November 15, 2025, on Saturdays and Halloween Day. Hours are 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with a special late-night celebration on Halloween where the gates stay open until midnight.
The festival takes place at the Scarborough Faire grounds on FM 66 and features artisan vendors, live performances, and plenty of seasonal fun. You’ll find everything from fall crafts to carnival games, delicious fair food, hayrides, and even a haunted trail for those who like a little thrill with their cider.
Tickets are around $32 for adults and $20 for children, and little ones four and under get in free. It’s the perfect way to enjoy that Renaissance charm with a Halloween twist... and honestly, who doesn’t love an excuse to dress up in costume?
Fall for ‘Hachie
Downtown Waxahachie comes alive every October for Fall for ‘Hachie, a family-friendly fall festival that feels like stepping into a storybook. The highlight of the event is the Benny and Boneless Storybook Adventure, where kids and adults alike can follow along on an interactive Halloween story through a whimsical maze of lights, music, and characters.
The event runs several weekends throughout October — Saturdays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sundays from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with extended hours on Halloween night from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission is $8, and every penny feels worth it for the memories you’ll make wandering through the fall magic of downtown Waxahachie.
It’s one of those events that truly captures the heart of our town...small, family-centered, and full of creative community spirit.
Reindeer Manor Haunted House
If you like your October nights with a little more boo than pumpkin spice, Waxahachie has that covered too! Reindeer Manor is one of the oldest and most famous haunted attractions in Texas, and it’s right here in our backyard.
Open weekends throughout October from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Reindeer Manor offers multiple haunted attractions across several buildings and outdoor spaces. With flashing lights, live actors, and truly spine-tingling sets, it’s not for the faint of heart... but perfect for anyone who loves a good scare!
Admission starts around $30, and I recommend getting there early to beat the crowds. It’s one of those iconic Waxahachie experiences that people travel from all over to see, but we’re lucky enough to have it right at home!
Trunk-O-Palooza
If you have little ones (or you just love a good costume yourself), make plans to stop by Trunk-O-Palooza at Railyard Park on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
This is the largest trunk-or-treat event in Texas, with over 100 decorated vehicles handing out candy! There’s also a costume contest, food trucks, and music, it’s such a fun, safe, and festive way for families to celebrate Halloween. And best of all, admission is completely free!
Bring your best costume, grab your treat bags, and prepare for an evening full of community, laughter, and sugar rushes.
Downtown Trick-Or-Treat on the Square
And of course, you can’t have Halloween in Waxahachie without Trick-Or-Treat on the Square!
On Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., downtown Waxahachie transforms into a candy wonderland as local merchants hand out treats to all the little ghosts and goblins who stop by. It’s a favorite tradition for many families, the streets are full of laughter, costumes, and community spirit.
It’s one of those small-town moments that reminds me why I love Waxahachie so much. The square comes alive, neighbors greet one another, and everyone gets to experience a bit of that classic hometown Halloween magic.
Murder Mystery Dinner at Sims Library
If you’re looking for something a little different — and maybe a little mysterious ...Sims Library is hosting a Murder Mystery Dinner this October! The theme this year is Mob Mafia, and guests are encouraged to dress the part... think pinstripes, pearls, and fedoras (but no toy weapons, of course).
It’s one of the rare adults-only events at the library (ages 19 and up), and registration opens in late September. There will be several dates to choose from throughout October, all held in the evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. It’s such a fun and unique way to experience the library, and who doesn’t love a little mystery mixed into their fall fun?
So there you have it, a full roundup of all things Hallow in Hachie! Whether you’re looking for family fun, community events, or a night of fright, Waxahachie truly shines this time of year. From pumpkins and garlands to haunted houses and mob mysteries, there’s something magical about how our town celebrates the season.
I can’t wait to soak it all in...the laughter, the lights, the cool fall air, and that unmistakable feeling of community that makes Waxahachie so special. If you’re local, I hope to see you out and about at one (or all!) of these events.
Happy haunting, friends... and happy Waxahachie Wednesday!
