Happy 10th, friends! That means it’s time for a round of 10 on the 10th.
When I think of fall evenings in Texas, I picture our porch glowing under a cotton candy sunset, a blanket wrapped around my shoulders, and maybe even a hockey game streaming in the background. Today, I thought I’d share 10 cozy things that make fall evenings my absolute favorite.
1. A Warm Bowl of Soup
Nothing says cozy quite like soup simmering on the stove. Whether it’s chicken tortilla, creamy potato, or a hearty chili, soup just has a way of warming both body and soul.
2. A Soft Blanket
Give me all the chunky knit throws and fleece blankets! Curling up on the couch or wrapping one around me while sitting on the porch instantly makes the evening feel snug and special.
3. Fall Candles
Pumpkin spice, pumpkin bonfire, apple cider, vanilla chai… need I say more? There’s something about a candle flickering in the background that adds warmth and comfort to any fall evening.
4. Watching the Sunset on the Porch
Texas sunsets never disappoint. Fall skies are some of the prettiest, painting the horizon with pinks, oranges, and purples. Sitting outside to soak it in feels like hitting pause on a busy day.
5. Hot Tea or Cocoa
A steaming mug in your hands is a fall evening must. My favorite is a classic hot cocoa with whipped cream on top. I like to make them extra festive in the fall.
6. A Good Book (or Bible Study)
Cooler evenings beg for a little extra quiet time. I love getting lost in a good book, or better yet, spending an hour in the Word with a cozy lamp beside me.
7. Flannel Pajamas or Slippers
There’s something about soft flannel and fuzzy slippers that makes you instantly feel like fall has arrived. Cozy clothes just complete the evening vibe.
8. Porch Lights & String Lights
Adding twinkle lights or lanterns to the porch makes it feel magical. Pair that with a cool breeze, and you’ve got the perfect spot to unwind.
9. Family Time
Whether it’s a movie night, board games, or just sitting around talking, cozy fall evenings are best when spent with the ones you love most.
10. Gratitude Journaling
As the day winds down, I love jotting down a few things I’m grateful for. Fall always feels like a season of reflection and thankfulness, and ending the evening this way brings such peace.
Bonus. Gilmore girls
Nothing feels quite as “fall” as watching Gilmore Girls. Something about Stars Hollow with its autumn leaves, quirky festivals, and endless coffee runs just fits the season perfectly. It’s the kind of show that feels like comfort food for the soul...cozy, witty, and warm, just like a fall evening should be.
As the days grow shorter and the evenings a little cooler, I’m reminded that cozy isn’t just about blankets, candles, or soup simmering on the stove...t’s about slowing down enough to savor these little gifts God tucks into each season. Fall invites us to linger, reflect, and give thanks for the beauty around us, whether it’s a Texas sunset, a family movie night, or even a Gilmore Girls marathon. However you choose to spend your autumn evenings, I hope they’re filled with warmth, peace, and a whole lot of gratitude.
