{Weekend Wrap-up}

Happy Monday!! It's Spring Break week over here {hello sleeping in until 8am every day!!} and I am only working Monday-Wednesday! We are going camping the later part of this week and I am so ready for it. I am praying for sunshine the whole camping trip. I need it. :)

Anyhow - back to last weekend...we had another amazing weekend! I was sad to see it go. Friday afternoon at school Mason got to have an ice cream party because his class was one of the winners for bringing box tops to school. And they also got to visit with Ronald McDonald. I got a notification that his school had posted to Facebook so I checked it and was so excited to find these:

Mason was selected out of the crowd by Ronald McDonald to help him with his presentation. He said it was SO cool.

Friday evening we were supposed to have supper at our Pastor's house...but the rain got in way of that. Our plan was to grill some hamburgers and hotdogs and let the kids play in their treehouse and with their farm animals, but it was too rainy and muddy! So we decided to reschedule for a drier time.

Later that evening some friends invited us to Southern Junction. It's a restaurant, but they also have a live band and dancefloor. We decided to go...I really needed to get out of the house. We left Mason with Nate's parents for the evening. Even though it's a restaurant they still serve alcohol and they allow smoking and we didn't know how late we would be so we decided it was best to not take Mase. Yay for date night with my sweet man! We got to Southern Junction just in time to grab their 2 for 1 steak deal!! You can either cook your own meats or have them cook it for an additional $2 bucks. We chose to cook our own steaks - it just seemed like it should be part of the experience. It was a ton of fun!!

You pick your meat from these glass front refrigerators, season it to your liking and then take it over to the grills to cook it. While the boys were finishing up the steaks Brandi and I went to the baked potatoe bar to get our potatoes all fixed up! It was such a delicious meal. After we ate we just sat back and chatted with our friends while watching all of the crazies out on the dancefloor. If you follow my Snapchat {masonsmama525} you got to see some of the entertainment!! It was hilarious! I needed those laughs.

Saturday morning we went to brunch with Nate's parents and brother at one of our favorite little cafes. It was good and the company was great! After brunch we had to run a few errands...most importantly getting Mason's haircut! He was a little overdue, but it's just been crazy around here lately.

That evening we met back up with Nate's parents for supper and a little shopping!

Sunday morning my alarm went off at 7 {really 6 - but #daylightsavingstime} to go grocery shopping before church. I strongly considered not going! I was too cozy in my bed with my boys...but I got up and I went. And, it was worth it because I got to see the most glorious sunrise. I couldn't get a good picture that would do it any justice...but I got this one...

I got my grocery shopping done, grabbed the boys some donuts and headed home to get ready for church!

Church was so, so so good {again}! And just what I needed to hear. We are studying Peter right now and the sermon was on how God uses suffering to draw us nearer to Him. That our suffering is ordained and purposeful. I hear ya God, I hear ya! Also, a good friend was in from San Antonio visiting her family so I got to see her at church! It made my heart so happy. After church we joined some friends for lunch back at the same little diner! It was a great time of fellowship! That afternoon we visited with my family for a bit then grabbed a pizza and headed home to relax!

How was your weekend? Is it Spring Break for you guys? Is Daylight Savings time getting the best of you?

  9. Oh how nice that you are only working a half week and are able to get away for some of Mason's spring break. Our spring break isn't until mid April... Hopefully the weather will be nice by then.
