Yesterday, I got to be part of one of the sweetest, most heartwarming afternoons I’ve had in a long time. Nate’s grandma—whom we all lovingly call NeNaw—had a special outing with her assisted living community, and I was so honored to tag along.
The outing was to the beautiful, historic Texas Theater right in the heart of the Waxahachie Square. If you’ve never been, it’s like stepping back in time—the kind of place that holds memories in its walls and charm in every corner. We gathered there to watch the classic Christmas film, White Christmas, and I have to say... I had never seen it before. Now I get the hype! It was absolutely magical—full of nostalgia, heart, and that old-Hollywood charm that just wraps you up in a blanket of warmth.
They served us cookies and drinks, and the entire experience felt like something out of a movie itself. There was laughter, sweet conversation, and this gentle feeling of being present in a really special moment. Everyone was so joyful, and it was beautiful to watch how much it meant to all the residents, especially NeNaw.
NeNaw is incredibly dear to me. She's not just Nate’s grandmother—she’s a woman I genuinely love and admire. She brings such light into every room, and getting to experience this beautiful afternoon together felt like a true gift. I’m so grateful to be welcomed into these kinds of moments with Nate’s family. These are the memories that stick—the simple, meaningful ones that remind you how sweet life really is.
And just when I thought the day couldn’t get any more precious—after the movie, as we all waited outside for the buses to arrive, one of NeNaw’s friends started leading the group in Christmas carols. The sound of those familiar songs being sung with joy, and the way everyone joined in—it just about did my heart in. It was one of those moments where time slows down and you feel the weight of gratitude settle in. It was so pure, so heartfelt… so Christmas.
There was something about watching White Christmas in an old theater, surrounded by generations of people, and then singing carols under the Texas neon light that made the whole afternoon feel almost magical. The music, the laughter, the community—it all just felt so nostalgic, and it’s an experience I’ll treasure for a long, long time.
