After spending a fun-filled day with the family soaking up all the Christmas magic, we wrapped things up in the best way possible—gathering at a friend’s house to make tamales for our upcoming Christmas celebration!
Now, I’ll be honest—making tamales was totally new territory for me. I’ve enjoyed eating them over the years, especially around the holidays when they seem to pop up everywhere like little bundles of joy wrapped in corn husks. But actually making them from scratch? That was a first! And let me just say—it was such a fun and surprisingly therapeutic experience.
There’s something about gathering in the kitchen with your favorite people, hands busy, music playing, and the scent of spices in the air, that makes everything feel a little extra special. We laughed, we learned, we shared stories, and of course, we got our hands a little messy. There was such a rhythm to it—spreading the masa, spooning in the filling, rolling everything just right—it became almost calming, like a little escape from the usual holiday chaos.
We made three different kinds of tamales, which made it even more fun to work as a team and see how each batch came together. There was so much love and intention wrapped into every single one, and I cannot wait to try them all at our upcoming FRIENDSMAS! Just thinking about all of us gathered together, enjoying the fruits of our labor, makes me so excited. I love that the tamales will hold more than just flavor—they’ll hold the memory of that night, and all the laughter and connection that went into making them.
Here’s to new traditions, delicious tamales, and the kind of holiday memories that warm your heart long after the season has passed. ❤️🌽🎄
