{Introducing...}

I am so excited and happy to introduce...

After only a little over week with us she has completely stolen all of our hearts!! We are smitten with her and couldn't love her more. Lexi was a {big SURPRISE} birthday present for Mason. We had known about her since she was a week old, but didn't tell Mason until the day we went to pick her up. Mason loves her something fierce and is so precious and sweet with her.

On 5/23 we took Mason to pick out his puppy from a litter of 7. We started by going to the store to pick up a new collar. He immediately says, "we're getting a new puppy?" So we told him yes and asked if he would like a puppy as his birthday present from us. Of course he was ecstatic! We had grabbed a collar because we didn't intend on bringing her home with us that day. We were leaving to go out of town that weekend and didn't really want to bring a new puppy with us in Nate's parent's camper. The owners {friends of ours from church} told us we could pick her out and then pick her up when we got back. Her siblings were getting picked up by a courier the next day to head to California where they would be adopted out. They wanted us to be able to pick ours before that happened and why we had to go on this day. So, we were just going to pick her out and put a collar on her to 'mark her' as ours. We get there and play with all 7 pups to pick one out. But, our little Lexi girl picked us! She was the calmest one there. Any time we would pick her up she would just melt into our arms and never fidget to break loose. She was the sweetest little thing! Mason knew pretty quick that she was the one! Matt {owner} talked us into bringing her home with us for a few days to bond with her and then agreed to watch her over the weekend! So that we did. {ps - you can find pictures of us picking her out here}

We brought her home and played with her for a couple of hours. Then we ran to Academy to get her a new kennel. We went straight for the biggest kennel because we knew we'd be wasting time and money buying a small one. This girl is going to grow by the minute. She was the largest one of the litter, even bigger than the one male pup they had. We took her to Academy with us and she did so well. After our Academy trip we took her to meet Nate's family! Then we had to leave for a graduation. The kennel is large enough for both Diesel and Lexi and has a divider so we put them both in there. After graduation we came home and played with both pups for a while and then put Lexi to bed. She slept from about 9:45 - 6:45 the next morning. Such a dream!

We let Mason name her. Well, we suggested the name "Lexi" and Mason said that was exactly what he was going to name her. I threw out Mae for a middle name, but Mason wasn't having it. He said he wanted her to have the same middle name as him. So, Lexi Lane it is. I've always used the hashtag #masonlaneh for Mason on Instagram, so I started one #LexLaneH for Lexi.

Our number one asked question is 'how is Diesel doing' or 'how does Diesel like her'? The first day he loved her and was so excited. Day two he was annoyed and like 'oh wait, she's staying?' ha. He would steal her one and only pink toy {even though he has hundreds} and would run and hide it. And if you tried petting Lexi he would get between your hand and her. But, as the days go on he is growing to love her. Yesterday our neighbor's dog came over to play and Diesel was super protective of Lexi.

Breed - Yellow Labrador Retriever {will be AKC registered}
Birthday - April 9th, 2016
Loves - to sleep, water & food, the AC and cold hard floor, playing with toys
Hates - going outside when it's super hot, being woken up
95% sweetness, 5% sass

She's incredibly smart as well. After only a few days with us she learned the word no and about 85% of the time she listens and obeys. Then last night {at 7 weeks and 4 days} we taught her less than a handful of times to sit and she was doing it on command! The next morning she even remembered and sat when told to.

Words couldn't begin to describe how much we love her! She was the perfect addition to the Hall family!!

  1. I totally melt over labs and golden retrievers. I had a chocolate lab growing up and he was the gentlest, sweetest love ever. Labs will always have a place in my heart.

    The pictures of Mason and Lexi in party hats totally melt me, too. There's nothing sweeter than a boy and his puppy growing up together. I'd give anything to bring our Golden Retriever from my parent's house to live with us but she's not a fan of Willow so I'm not sure that would be a good move on Bella's part. I look forward to seeing Lexi grow up with Mason and all the adventures they have together.

  2. Congratulations! We love our labs here! Our Duncan lived to 15 and Finn is currently 3. May I recommend the book Training Your Labrador by Terry Albert. It had been a long time since we had had a puppy, after Duncan passed. A lab puppy is no joke. The chewing stage can be rough. Our dogs loved deer antlers (boil in chicken/beef broth, let cool/dry) The Benebone was another good choice (Target/Amazon) This Squirrel toy, when she gets a bit older. https://www.amazon.com/Outward-Hound-Squirrel-Squeaky-Puzzle/dp/B000NV8940/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496406031&sr=8-1- spons&keywords=squirrel+dog+toy&psc=1. Enjoy your new puppy!

  16. I want one!! Or better yet, I want to come cuddle Lexi and then give her back ;) Right now my thinking is no pets until everyone in the house wipes their own booty, but after that I want a puppy and a kitten. That collage is just the sweetest. Mason and Lexi already look like bffs.
