{TT // All Things Pumpkin // Pumpkin Patchin' #1}

Saturday {10/8} Nathan had plans to go fishing with his brother. Mason and I didn't have anywhere to be until 2 that day so I decided to take him to Country Critter's Farm/Pumpkin Patch. We used to take Mason to Country Critter's Farm every year until we discovered Mainstay Farm in 2013. In December 2013 we went to Mainstay Farm for their Christmas tree days, but learned of their pumpkin days and knew we'd have to go there in 2014. And that we did. Mainstay Farm has become our preferred place for pumpkin patchin', but we thought it would be fun to go back to our old stomping grounds for a day.

It poured the day before, but the sun came out in that afternoon. Everywhere around us seemed to have dried up, so we gave the pumpkin patch a go. It was fairly dry except for in the maze and we got so muddy. Mason didn't seem to mind, though! It actually was the perfect day to go to a pumpkin patch. It was in the upper 60s, but sunny. While the sun was a challenge with photos, it did give us just the perfect amount of warmth that we needed. We got there when they first opened and quickly saw that was the best decision. The line had grown so long behind us. The farm is pretty spread out so nothing felt crowded and Mason didn't have to wait long for anything.

We stopped for a quick photo opp and then it was off to the wooden playground. This was Mason's favorite when he was smaller so I was interested to see what he thought about it now. Verdict? Still loved it.

After playing on the playground for a while he thought about the bouncehouse but then he saw there were a few toddlers in there and decided against it. He didn't want to jump too hard and knock them over. So we went to the maze. Mason found a dog in there and wanted to take him home. Of course! I had to remind him that it wasn't a stray and that he lived at the farm. We finished the maze and then visited with an Alpaca before we were off to the pony rides!

Then it was back to the playground a bit before we boarded the hay ride. Oddly enough, the tractor driver's name was Mason too. My Mason thought that was so cool. The hay ride wasn't able to go out into the pasture like it normally does due to the rain the day before. Instead we went out of the pumpkin patch grounds, down a country road and back. It was still enjoyable. And nice to sit down for a few minutes after following Mason all over the pumpkin patch.

Next was the barrel train ride followed by some stick pony riding, hula hoop roping, and Pumpkin story time with apple juice and cookies. Mason loves the story time area. The seats are hay bales and it's decorated so cute. I hung back a bit because the hay always flares up my allergies.

Then he found another bounce house that was unoccupied and he played in it for over 30 minutes. Luckily there were some picnic tables right by the bounce house and I could work on getting some of the mud off of our shoes. When he'd had enough bouncing we headed for the pumpkin patch to pick out Mason's pumpkin. With every child's admission they get to pick out a pie pumpkin. We also picked up a few smaller pumpkins too. Now I wish I would have grabbed more white pumpkins!

We had such a good time! We had plenty of time and didn't have to rush anything. Mason was able to play at each area as long as he wanted. I love that. And it was so neat to capture photos in the same areas that we did when he was three. Kind of sad, though. It just proved to me how fast time really does pass by.

  1. Going to the pumpkin patch is the best and something special to do in the fall. There's always so much to do at them. Looks like Mason had a blast and he's so seeet to not want to bounce because he was worried about hurting the toddlers. Love him!!

  3. What a fun place to go friend. Our pumpkin patch always feels so boring compared to other peoples. It is seriously just a field of pumpkins, lol. There is a pretty old barn though.

  4. So much fun happening here! Your pumpkin patch looks amazing and I am SO jealous of your weather!!!! If Mason loves getting muddy you should see if they Savage Race comes near you. We'really running ours this weekend. It's an obstacle course through the mud. They have a Savage race Jr. Portion that I think he would love.

  8. What a fun pumpkin patch!! It looks like Mason hit all the highlights and had the best time.
    I tried to convince Marcus we should take a few white pumpkins from our pumpkin patch trip this weekend. He was adamant that the white ones were rotten, so at the patch they stayed!

  10. This place reminds me so much of the place we went last year! Not our regular farm but it really was fun, just further away! Honestly, they had the barrel train, the wooden play set, the spray painted hay bales, everything!
