{FREEPORT, TX ~ SURFSIDE BEACH // SUMMER VACATION 2020}

I've been putting this post off for far too long! I think I was intimidated by the number of photos I took (and making the YouTube video). Anyhow, back on June 16th, we headed down to the Freeport, TX / Surfside Beach area for several days! Nate's entire family went and it was the first time in years that we have all been together for a vacation! It was really nice.

Tuesday, June 16th //

We left town around 10 am on Tuesday to make the almost 4-hour trek to Freeport, TX. We of course had to stop at Bucees on our way! It's the best Texas stop sign out there.

Our house had a 4:00pm check-in time, but after a quick phone call, we were able to get in earlier. We pulled up and were confused at first. Our house had two different address numbers on it and we were told to park at one number over the other. We thought maybe we had rented a duplex or something. But NO, we sure didn't. We had this whole ginormous house to ourselves. I think our jaws were all dropped when we opened that gate and got glimpses of the house/property! It blew us away. I will say this, the VRBO listing does not do this house any justice at all. It looks nice on the VRBO listing, but it's incredible in person. It's huge, nice, and just pure awesomeness! I think I will do a whole separate post on just the house tour!

Anyhow, we got all the vehicles parked and then started unloading all of our bags for the week. Each family had their own bedroom. it was so spacious. Then we quickly made our way outside to hang out by the pool! With some adult beverages, of course.

I couldn't wait to watch the sunset from the beach house! It didn't disappoint.

Wednesday, June 17th //

I woke up pretty early to go do my Bible study out by the water! I was surprised to find that most of the house was already awake. I guess that's what happens when you have two little ones! lol. It was another fishing/hanging by the pool day. I didn't take as many pictures and videos on this day. I was too busy soaking up the vitamin sea and that salty air.

Thursday, June 18th //

I woke up extra early on this day and found a secluded spot! I spent over 2.5 hours alone...just me and God! and it was glorious!!!

I love my porch time with God at home, but I think I could get used to that!!

After everyone was up and about we declared it a beach day. Some of the locals told us the beaches were getting flooded on the weekends and to go during the week if we could. It was still pretty crowded for a Thursday, but we found us a good spot. We stopped at Surfin Rita's Daquiris to go on the way. We found out about them last year and we are obsessed!!

After a couple of hours, we headed back to the pool.

Friday, June 19th //

Mason wanted to go into Galveston to all of the beach shops. He had some birthday money burning a hole in his pocket. So, we took him. No one else wanted to go, so it was just us three. We had a great time! Mason found him a new phone case and pop-socket and we bought him and Carson a couple of toys at the toy shop.

On the way back we decided to drive on the beach and look for seashells. We found some pretty good ones!!

That evening as we were leaving to go to dinner Nate shouts "THERE'S AN ALLIGATOR"!!! Sure enough, there was an 8ish foot alligator swimming right in front of our beach house. We couldn't believe what we were seeing.

Crazy, right?

After dinner, Nate and I decided to take a cruise on the beach. We got to see some of the sunset and it was beautiful! I'm so glad we did this on our last evening at the beach.

Saturday, June 20th //

We had to be out of the house by 11 that morning so we got up early to get everything packed. Before we left I took some pictures of the beach house. I will share those on the beach house tour post.

We had so much fun and made so many memories!!
