In honor of my 36th birthday {today} I thought I would share 36 random things about me. Several of my friends have done similar posts on their birthdays and I loved learning some new facts about them! I will tell you though that this was super hard for me. And by hard I mean it took me several days to think of 36 things and I even had to ask Nate to help with a few! #lamesauce
So, without further ado...my 36.
1.) I really, really wanted to lie and say it's only my 32nd or something because....thirty six. UGH!
2.) I find it so hard to talk about myself, but could talk about my boys for days upon days!!
3.) Worship music is my favorite! I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but I don't care. Worship music just moves me down deep in my soul.
4.) I am a pretty loyal person. Nathan and I have been together a little over 20 years, I just celebrated my 17th year at my job, I had the same dresser for almost 11 years {and then my cousin started doing hair}, I've had the same best friend since 2nd grade, went to the same church for over 11 years, I've had the same cell phone # for 19+ years, same bank since I cashed my first paycheck in 1999, and I am sure there are several more I could add.
5.) My favorite color is turquoise and mint green is a close 2nd.
6.) I am obsessed with Goldendoodles and will have one someday!
7.) I've only ever lived in Texas and more specifically within 55 {ish} miles of the DFW metroplex.
8.) Moving to my current town in 2007 is one of the best the best things we ever did. Our town is so charming and is filled with the nicest people. I am glad Mason gets to grow up here. This place just makes my heart smile. #smalltowntexasforever
9.) I have officially spent 4.5 years of my life trying to conceive a baby. 2.5 with Mason and just started year 2 for baby #2.
10.) I would be a-okay with a house full of boys {ya know, if we didn't have fertility issues}. I've always seen myself as a boy mom. That doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy with a girl, I would. Maybe it's just because that's all I know? I live in a boy's world. I have a brother, 4 nephews, and 3 brother in laws.
11.) I have three tattoos. All three are not visible unless I want them to be.
12,) I have an OCD with keeping my phone at full charge, or as close to it as possible. I sort of freak out when my battery dips below 80 %. I used to have a mophie on my iPhone and now I carry a portable charger with me everywhere.
13.) Another OCD is that I always hit the lock button on my car twice - and if the horn doesn't honk twice then I do it again. In my head I feel like I have to lock twice to lock the front and back doors.
14.) I love baseball {Go Rangers}!! The ballpark is one of my favorite places to be. You just can't beat the atmosphere, the ballpark food, and the game.
15.) I also love to be at church. I can't get enough. Mason is just like me in this aspect.
16.) I am short...only 5'2.
17.) I've never broken any bones, or had any surgeries.
18.) My favorite tv shows are Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, This is Us, Nashville, Grey's Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, Gilmore Girls, Fuller House and Fixer Upper.
19.) I am a Senior Account Manager for a Marketing firm. I work from home M-F / 8-4pm. It is one of the biggest blessings in my life. Especially now that Mason is in school. It gives me so much more time with my family and I'll forever be grateful for that.
20.) Fall is my favorite season, Christmas is my favorite time of the year. They both fly by entirely too fast.
21.) I am horrible at drinking water and eating healthy things. Awful.
22.) I have a servant's heart through and through.
23.) I struggle with wanting more for others than they want for themselves and it tears me apart. Like wrecks me. I don't know how to change or get over this.
24.) I can't say no for anything. Even Mason knows and sees this. He asked me just yesterday, "Mom, how are you so nice all of the time? Don't you ever get angry?"
25.) I am terrified of snakes. Just thinking about them makes my skin crawl. They freak me the freak out!
26.) I am a mountains type of person. Nate is all about the beach. Mason is a little of both.
27.) I have anxiety over the thought of Mason growing up. A friend texted the other day and said her son wants to have a sleepover for his 7th birthday and wanted to know if Mason could come. My blood pressure rose so high right after I read her text and I had to make myself breath. No exaggeration whatsoever. I just can't...
28.) Which leads me to...I have trouble with sharing Mason. Especially to school. I just want to be near him all the time and be able to protect his little heart from the world.
29.) I fall asleep praying probably 5-6 nights a week. I have a lot to say...
30.) I am close to both my family and Nathan's family. I've been blessed with the best in-laws a girl could ask for. We do tend to do more with Nate's family because they live right behind us. Mason is their only grandchild so they are really involved in his life. They also still take family vacations whereas my family really does not anymore. And this is why you see more of Nate's family on the blog.
31.) But, with that being said I am a total Daddy's girl. Always have been and always will be. We have this little thing we always say to each other - "I love you once, I love you twice, I love you more than beans and rice." It's our thing!
32.) I absolutely loathe doing the dishes. I've learned that if I turn on Pandora to my favorite Christian stations while washing dishes it helps me so much to not be in a bad mood! ha,
33.) I do not like surprises. At all.
34.) I love road trips. I could ride in a car for hours upon hours, even days. It's such a great way to have quality conversation and listen to some good tunes.
35.) Weekend getaways are my favorite. They're so refreshing.
36.) I'm a hugger, a crier, I love and I love hard, and sensitive to the core,
Whew! That was hard! Now, tell me something about you! Do we have anything in common?
Happy birthday!!! I turned 36 in July. Downward slope to 40 now - meh. I loved learning more about you! We have a lot in common! And, girl, you are and amazing mother and I wish you success with your TTC journey.
ReplyDeleteThis would be so hard for me to do to! But you came up with a great list! I'm still cracking up over "can't carry a tune in a bucket." I had never heard that one before!!! Happy birthday!! And I'm sorry about the whole fertility thing. It took us 2 years for Letty and a year for Dom. It's not fun.
ReplyDeleteAwww, I love getting to know you a bit better. Baby Fox slept over at my parents house and I couldn't wait for him to get home! It was wierd walking past his bedroom and no one was in there. The house felt so empty, if that makes sense? I can't even imagine when he goes away to college!
ReplyDeleteYou are just the sweetest person! I think I need some of your sweetness to rub off on me, because I can have a quick temper!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!! We enjoy the same shows and a lot of our emotions are the same (especially when it comes to our little boys). I hope your day is filled will all the things you love.
ReplyDeleteHappy Happy Birthday :)
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy Birthday, sweet friend!!
ReplyDeleteFriend, I hope THIS is your year for everything you've been hoping, wishing, dreaming, and praying for.
Also, I would have never guessed you to have three tattoos! I have four - and they're not visible unless I make a point to show them.
Happy birthday sweet friend!! Turquoise is my absolute favorite as well and we have so many other things in common too! You are one heck of a person and I think the world of you!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!! You really are the sweetest person! No wonder Mason is so sweet and kind! And I'm the same way with the iPhone being charged. I got a charging case that only shows the battery going down on the main screen after I've used up my entire extra battery. No I have even more anxiety if it even goes down to 99%!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Crystal! I feel so bad that it's been all day and I didn't know it's your birthday! We have a ton in common - I love turquoise, I can't sing, I hate when my phone isn't full, I'm 5'2 also, I love Chicago Fire and of course This Is Us, I love the baseball atmosphere, etc etc!!
ReplyDeleteYou and me are the SAME EXACT person. But I'll be 35 this year. But so many of these traits I was agreeing with.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! What a great idea for a post!
ReplyDeleteYou are JUST like Seth in the phone charging department. He is so crazy about his phone always being charged. He, too, had a mophie and I think turns it on when his phone gets to like 75%.
ReplyDeleteI am TERRIBLE at drinking enough water and eating healthy things. It's 9:30pm and I just ate some Oreos. I knew it was a bad decision when I did it, but I can't help it!
Happy, happy birthday!!
I hope you had the best birthday! I could go right down your list, well I did & say yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! We have so many things in common! I just love your blog, your heart & your outlook. You are just so darling! I want to be you when I grow up! :) XOXO!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, Happy Birthday!!! I loved this post and learning more about you, so much I didn't know! I'm so sorry you're struggling with fertility issues, I can't even imagine. There's not much more to say to that I know, but I wanted to address is because I didn't know it before. I really hope everything works out with that.
ReplyDeleteI'm 5'2" as well!! and also suuuuuuuuper sensitive! I wear my heart on my sleeve and can cry at the drop of a dime LOL! Sometimes I wish I wasn't like that but oh well, there's no changing me!
So fun to read! Happy, HAPPY birthday girl! <3 I didn't know that you guys are trying for baby #2! I also would be happy with having a houseful of boys; I'm seriously terrified to ever be a girl mom.
ReplyDeleteYou are the sweetest, EVER! I had no idea you were only 5'2" That is like 8" difference from me. So hugs may be awkward but am a hugger too so if we ever meet I am so going to squeeze you friend. I hope you had the most amazing birthday dear friend. I pray 2017 brings so many good things for your family.
ReplyDeleteHappy happy birthday yesterday! I'm so behind on my blog reading so I missed this! And GIRL, I would have never in a million years guessed that you were 36! Goodness, you look like you're in your mid-20s, so whatever you're doing just keep on doing it because you look AH-mazing. I'll be 35 in April, so I always love finding out the fellow bloggers are near my age... sometimes I feel like an old lady in the blogger world as most of the girls seem to be in their 20s.
ReplyDeleteAnd #4? We are JUST alike. I am loyal to a fault. B and I have been together for 14 years this year, I've been at my job for 12, I've had the same best friends since I was a little girl... so I totally feel you!
And finally, I had no idea that you even worked outside the home! I always assumed you were a SAHM. You are so lucky to get to work from home! I am in sales and marketing for a worldwide corporation and they would never even think of letting us work from home. Sigh.
Happy birthday, friend!!! LOOOOVED reading more about you (and I am a daddy's girl too!).
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday sweet girl!! I'm also 5"2 and cant carry a tune!
ReplyDeleteHope your birthday is wonderful. Enjoy!
Happy Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteTurquoise is my favorite color! & Turquoise jewelry is my absolute favorite! Coincidentally enough ;)
I hope you had a wonderful birthday! XOXO I loved learning more about you!
ReplyDeleteNo way you are 36! And keep thinking about you & your journey to another baby. Lots of prayers!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday, Crystal. What a great list! We have several things in common: love of worship music, our height, favorite colors (except add pink to mine) and snakes--ugh! Your Caffeinated friend, Cecilia
ReplyDeleteIm SO late- Happy belated Birthday, Crystal!!! I loved reading all these random bits that make up you, and we totally have several in common (which isnt a surprise!) I hope you had a wonderful day filled with love and laughter. You deserve all the blessings!
ReplyDeleteWe have lots in common and I love this post! Happy Belated Birthday to you, beautiful lady!!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, happy (belated) birthday! Second, we have SO much in common. I was just nodding along to this post and loving all the random facts. Tune deaf? Check. Mountains over beaches? Check. Dishes? Blech... ;) Your loyalty definitely shines through in your blog, as does your love for your boys. One thing I probably shouldn't tell you though is I constantly let my phone get down to 1%. Drives Joe crazy. Whoops!
