{You're the reason God made Oklahoma}

Jimtown OK

This past Sunday we traveled to Oklahoma to visit Nathan's side of the family. His Grandfather had surgery a couple of weeks ago and we wanted to go visit with him and to see how he was doing. He beat us to the front door ready to pass out hugs!! We were so happy to see him up and around and doing so well.

We had a wonderful visit! And Mason was on his very best behavior and was so sweet to his Great Grandparents. He cuddled on the couch with his Great-Grandpa for hours! It makes my heart so happy that Mason is able to visit with his Great Grandparents and to have a relationship with them.

As I was sitting there soaking up the family time I couldn't help but think about how much simpler life is there. No computers, no smartphones {although MeMaw does have an iPad, but she doesn't use it much}, no social media 24/7, no hustle & bustle...it's just simpler. People actually pick up the phone and call one another or they stop by to visit face to face. The town has history and everyone knows everyone. I loved to sit there and listen to Papa Johnny's stories and to hear him talk about calling an 'old friend' to reminisce. How cool is that? And just the simplest of things made me smile from the inside out...like hearing that he has a pecan tree in his front yard that is over 82 years old...or that he helped with a cattle drive {getting cattle out of the Red River bottoms}...How many can say that?

It was so nice to spend hours unplugged and enjoying family, stories and the calm and quiet. I definitely can't wait to go back.

How was your weekend?

  3. Sounds like a beautiful place to be!! It's so good, in such a technical day and age, to be able to just sit and talk about anything and everything!

  6. I'd love to be forced to unplug a bit. I am sure I would miss it a bit but it would be nice if our society wasn't so media dependent. It almost feels like a necessary evil now days.

    Looks like you had a wonderful visit!
