{Sunflowers in Texas}

 photo IMG_7009_zpsdkdsqpki.png

When we first moved out to the country {8 years ago} I remember being intrigued & in love with all of the sunflower fields out here. Coming from the city this wasn't something that we saw everyday. But, as the years went on it seemed like they were fewer and farther between. Well, this year they were back and they were beautiful! I was quickly reminded of how much I just love these things. I could drive around for hours just looking at {and taking pictures of} all  of the sunflower fields. We also have wheat and cotton fields out here, but they're just not as pretty.

Then, a couple of weeks ago my brother in law asked me to take some pictures of him & his girlfriend in the sunflowers and I was so excited! I just love how beautiful they are.

They say everything is bigger in Texas....and I think that's true with the Sunflowers this year!!

Are Sunflowers common where you live?

  1. So, so, so pretty!!!

    I don't know of anywhere nearby to find a field of them but we planted some of our own on Mothers Day and they are just now starting to flower. Sunflowers are just one of those plants that make me smile and think about how awesome our God is :).

  3. Love love love! We have a few sunflower fields around here, but not many. You have to really know where to look. Mainly they're on bird hunting property - they plow them down to attract more birds to the fields. Now I need to find one and get some photos!

  4. Gorgeous! I remember seeing one big sunflower field growing up in Vermont. I know there's a few in Ennis that are just beyond words.

  5. Stunning photos! I just love these! I always hear about the bluebonnets in TX, but it's rare to hear about the sunflowers (or see pics) so thanks for sharing!

  6. LOVE sunflowers! I'd love to grow some but we don't have anywhere to do so. I think I remember someone at my old work planting one in a small pot, but I'm not sure how that would work when they get bigger. Regardless, I love looking at them!

  9. GORGEOUS!!! Sunflowers are Kansas's state flower (I lived in KC for some time), but I honestly never saw any fields. However, every time I see sunflower they remind me of home.

  11. So pretty! John has been wanting to plant sunflowers but I've always been hesitant since you can't really keep up with the yard around them but I think next year I'll give in & we'll put some down in an area that's flood plane anyway & just deal with the tall grass in the summer. They're just so pretty!
