Deckin' the Halls is one of my favorite things to do around Christmas-time. Usually, Mason and I will decorate the entire house on the day that we get our Christmas tree {from the Christmas Tree farm} while Nate works on the "exterior illumination" {National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation anyone?}. But, this year I started decorating the house about 2 weeks prior to us getting the Christmas tree. There were a few reasons for this, but mostly because I was excited and I wanted to take my time with the decorating. And if I'm being honest, to decorate and redecorate a few times. It really is a lot to do it all in one day! I'm so glad we did it this way because just decorating the tree took a full day! Whew...
It's become a tradition for Mason and me to put on these Santa hats and take a picture before we start decorating every year. And, I just love it! I'm thankful that he mostly obliges to all of my picture taking!!
I switched up my decor a lot this year and put things in different places. I feel like I went a bit more simple this year, but I do love it. My house isn't the easiest to photograph, so these pictures are not great. But, you get the idea. Also, you can see throughout the photos that I moved a few things. ;)
I mentioned that I wanted a tree on my front porch and my sweet husband made that happen! Nathan said we had a bunch of small trees at the back of our property that would be perfect for what I was wanting. He cut one down and we put it in a tin bucket and it's the cutest thing ever!
We picked up our tree on the Friday after Thanksgiving at the Christmas tree farm. Normally we would decorate it then, but we got back later than normal and knew we wouldn't have much daylight left. I took Mason to see the new Grinch movie instead while Nate stayed home to watch the OU football game. Saturday Nathan got busy putting the Christmas lights on the house while Mason and I trimmed the tree! This has been our process/tradition for years! That way we all finish around the same time and we can see the full Christmas reveal! It's such a glorious experience!
Have you decked your halls? If so, I'd love to see. Come link-up with us!
This year's Holiday Home Tour hosts include Crystal, Leslie, Becky, Penny, Stephanie, Whitney, Shelly, and Keri. I would love for you to visit the homes of these ladies, they have such beautiful spaces and I love the holiday touches they have throughout their homes.
