I remember driving by this place not long after we moved here and was thinking 'what the heck was that?' It didn't take us long to learn that it was the Munster Mansion. It's a complete replica from the 1960's tv show The Munsters. The owners have spent so much time making the outside as well as the inside a complete duplicate of the actual mansion from the show.
You can book a group tour or even a private tour of the mansion throughout the year. They also open once a year for tours around Halloween. They donate the money they make during that weekend to a children's charity. And you can even meet an actor from the show during that weekend.
This is the best I've managed to get...
Do you have any cool places like this around you?
I'm a total wimp when it comes to scary things, but that house sounds really cool! I've been through Waxahachie tons of times, but haven't spent much time there. I definitely need to plan a Saturday sometime soon exploring there!
ReplyDeleteHow fun, I'm sure we do have fun places around us, but I don't have anything cool like that!
ReplyDeleteWhat?! This is so cool!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know of any places like that around LA, but there is a house in Iowa, fairly close to my hometown, that is known for an exorcism that happened in the 20s. I've never been, but kind of want to check it out one day.
Oh my word, what a cool place!! That is just so neat!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! I love when people do things like that. About 3 hours from us we have the Orange Blossom Cannonball train that was use in the movies True Grit, There Will Be Blood, 3:10 to Yuma, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, and some others. It is pretty cool, it's fully operational and they let you ride in the vintage coaches.
ReplyDeleteHaha! That is so much fun. I totally met Eddie Munster at a car show event we went to in the spring too :P!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh how fun is that!!!? It's so great you love where you live! I mean obviously but to REALLY love it!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool and fun! A tour would be a blast. :) I think you need to go and then report back. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou find some of the funniest things ever to go and do. This would be right up my Halloween lovin' alley.
ReplyDeleteI don't know of anything like that around here but there's this place by where I grew up called the Winchester Mystery House. Even though I hate scary things, I've been there before and it was actually pretty cool, not too scary. It's more weird than anything like you walk up a set up stairs and open the door at the top and you come out of a closet. So weird but interesting at the same time!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow, I loved watching old time black and white sitcoms on Nick at Nite growing up! Your town really is a gem!!
ReplyDeleteYup, I think that I'm gonna have to come visit you so we can go check this place out. So cool! I remember watching The Munsters on Nick at Nite when I was younger. I loved it cuz it had everything creepy & weird. :)
ReplyDeleteHow cool!!! I'd definitely want to do the Halloween tour.
