Just like last year we road-tripped to the Texas hill country for some Labor Day weekend camping fun in Mason, TX! TimeHop told me that we have been traveling to Mason for three years now. I can't believe Mason was barely three years old when we started camping here! We visit Mason, TX every Memorial Day and Labor Day {with the exception of May 2015 when we went to Disney}. It is one of my favorite camping trips, hands down.
We normally have a large group with us and our camping spots span the length of the playground area. Mason can run about and we don't have to worry much! There are always a pair of eyes on him. We were supposed to have 17 or 18 campers with us this trip, but many had to back out for various reasons. We ended up having 8 campers/families. Mason was the only child out of 20+ campers. At first he was really sad that he didn't have anyone to play with. But, I think that quickly changed when he started realizing how much attention he was getting from all of the adults. I posted this on Instagram, but out of all the things I love about Mason TX what I love most is how well they all love my sweet boy! They are so good to him. My MIL said it's like Mason has a bunch of aunts and uncles and I couldn't agree more.
This weekend was a bit more chill in the fact that we didn't do much besides camping and visiting the deer lease. No travelling to Fredericksburg, or to Luckenbach or Johnson City. We stayed in Mason, TX the entire time. And we were a-okay with that. We were able to relax and just soak up some quality time with some amazing people that we love so.
Sunday morning we woke up bright and early to head to the deer lease. It's about a 30 minute trip through the back-roads, but worth every minute of it. Once we got inside the deer lease the truck we were following stopped and Kevin went to fish something from the other side of the fence. He comes back with a deer shed and brings it to Mason. So thoughtful that he spotted it and jumped out to get that for him. I told you...they are all so great to him! Mason thought it was the coolest thing!! One of the tips had been chewed on by something, but other than that it was a pretty good shed.
That afternoon we played dominoes for hours! At first it was just 6 of us playing, but then we played girls against guys {girls won!}. It was so much fun and now I think I might be addicted to playing double 9's. Then, just like every night before we gathered in a common area under strands of lights for supper and fellowship. It's one of my most favorite things about camping with this group. Each night we have a theme for supper and then everyone contributes. We always have everything you could want and more than you would ever need. We definitely leave there with our bellies and our hearts full.
How was your labor day weekend?
