{Spring Break 2020 // Camping in the Texas Hill Country}

Our scheduled spring break for 2020 was March 9th through the 13th. Nate's parents were headed to the Texas Hill Country to camp for a few days and invited us to come along. We love the hill country and will take any opportunity to go there! We weren't able to stay the whole week but were able to go Friday through Tuesday. It was a great amount of time to escape and just enjoy family and a beautiful area.

Saturday morning we slept in and then decided to go to all the shops in Boerne. They have a bunch of cute boutiques, antique shops, and they even had a Black Rifle Coffee store there. We shopped and then went to have lunch at our favorite restaurant there, The Hungry Horse.

After lunch we decided to head to Cascade Caverns for a cave tour! We love exploring caves when given the opportunity. We had about 45 minutes until our cave tour so we left Mason do some gem mining. He found so many great gems and we had a blast helping him. The Cascade Caverns were absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed the tour. It was quite the hike back up, though!

We had a wonderful time at the Caverns! That evening we went back to the Hungry Horse for supper! We are a creature of habit in some ways!!

Sunday we decided to head over to San Antonio for the day. First up on our agenda was eating at Mi Tierra. It's a San Antonio favorite and a must while in the area. We only had a 30 minute wait, which wasn't bad. We passed the time by drinking some margaritas! The peach was amazing!!

After lunch we went over to have a caricature poster of Mason drawn! We saw them on our way to the restaurant and knew we wanted to do that as a souvenir from our trip.

Then we went to shop the market for a bit! I was on a mission to find the perfect Mexican blanket!! And that I did. Mason found him a couple of souvenirs as well. After shopping we decided to walk over to the Alamo. It was only half a mile away and it would be better to walk than to pay for parking again! It seemed to be a little over 1/2 a mile, though and took us a while to get there. We were able to get in line and walk through the Alamo before closing. That was our first time to actually go into the Alamo. It was so neat! Mason was excited since they had been learning about it in school.

We ended up calling an Uber to drive us from the Alamo back to our Jeep. It was well worth the $8 bucks!! That evening we went to supper, for ice cream at Dairy Queen, and then back to the camper to chill. We picked up a Loteria game while at the market place so we played that all evening. It's like a Mexican bingo! So fun.

Monday we went back over to San Antonio. It was a rainy and gloomy day, but we made the best of it. There was a tactical store we wanted to visit so we did that first. Then we had lunch at Pluckers. Mason had googled and found a Lego store in the area so we went there next. Let me just tell you...this was a little slice of Heaven for my Lego loving boy!

We stuck to indoor stuff for the majority of the day. It was rainy and gloomy. Tuesday was the day we were going to make the trek back home, but we decided to go back to Boerne with the family first. There were some other shops we wanted to check out and a favorite we wanted to go back to! We had lunch at a little burger diner and it was so good! We took Mason to the candy shop and then headed back to the camper to gather our things. The drive home was an easy one!

And a short little video of our trip...
